Where did Y94.5 go wrong?

I remember seeing ratings after they first came on the air (then as Soft Rock 94.5)--seems like they took Birmingham by storm. They were really strong a few years when Magic 96 decided lean more towards the hot AC side and were plastered because of it. Magic got their groove back when they went back towards mainstream AC and even started playing 60s songs again like they used to do way back when. So, what did Y94.5 do that caused them not be on the air now, besides losing Rick & Bubba?

IMO, I just think a lot of people didn't have many reasons to keep listening to them after Rick & Bubba left. Magic was already the heritage AC station...and maybe it's just me but it seemed like Y94.5 had some looooong commercial breaks compared to Clear Channel stations in the market

IIRC, didn't Soft Rock 94.5 struggle to establish themselves before Rick and Bubba moved over from the Q? It seems to me that WYSF (be it as Soft Rock or Y-94.5) was never a real challenger to Magic outside of morning drive. Once Rick and Bubba went back across Green Springs Highway to 'ZZK, that was pretty much all she wrote for Y-94.5. Truth be told, that station hasn't been well-programmed since the early '90's when it was still I-95. The quality of I-95 decreased when Kicks bit the dust, basically leaving I-95 as the only Top 40 station in town. They got lazy, CHR went down the tubes everywhere, and then it was adios, I-95; hello, Mix/Soft Rock/Y/New/(whatever will follow)-94.5.
