My name is Charles Bosworth (aka Boz). Many in radio remember me as Charlie Profit, and/or my username cabradio. This is my old moderator badge from back in the day.

I was introduced to Radio-Info in 2001 when I moved to Southington, CT to manage WNTY AM 990 (that is a separate story). I was shocked that a small station like WNTY was a source of radio talk/gossip. One day, someone (a moderator, if I am not mistaken) posted the real name and age of a user who was a minor (I won't name him here, but he is now a very successful PD in CT). I looked up the Radio-Info domain name owner and found Doug's contact info. I reached out to him, we talked about the situation, and he agreed that what happened was inappropriate.
As we chatted, we learned we had some things in common. For one, Doug had a cousin who went to high school with my wife. Doug had moved to Reno, NV, and I had lived there prior to moving to CT. We hit it off, and he invited me to become a moderator. Things plugged along. One day, Doug invited me to join his new consulting group, iN3 Partners. He also met me in Rhode Island as we pitched WNTY's owner on a business opportunity to invest in some stations. The owner declined. It was shortly after that that Doug passed away in Reno, NV.
Diana, Doug's mom, reached out to me through another contact in early 2006. I do not remember who that was, as we did not know each other, and he disassociated himself from everything that was happening with the website. She asked me to be the Managing Board Editor. And I accepted.
Unfortunately, I never reached out to Lance or Tanim. But I held no animosity. I simply took advantage of an income opportunity. But I was the MBE for only about 6 months. I had brought on someone I thought was a friend from Reno to help out. There was a staff of several moderators that flagged, editted or deleted comments. I was also managing WXCT (formerly WNTY) under an LMA at that time. Between managing the station and the website, I had a lot on my plate. Diana was a bit of a micromanager and always asked where I was on the projects. I had a conversation with Doug's dad and explained that I don't operate well under micromanagement. The next day or so, I was let go. I want to say that had happened around October 2006.
The person I brought on became the new MBE. I asked him why they let me go, and he refused to tell me. The discussion part of the site soon became horribly managed. Except for the first 6 months of birthing the Radio News Enterprise that the site became, I was not involved with Radio-Info. Until Eric Rhodes and Radio Ink/Streamline acquired it. The entire Radio-Info discussions board staff was let go, and Eric asked me to manage the site again - by myself. So I did. This was around early 2014, when the site became RadioDiscussions. I did my best to keep things moderated fairly. I soon brought Frank on board to help out. He volunteered his time to stay active despite being disabled. The boards were earning about 200-300/month in revenue from a couple of advertisers I pursued and Google Ads.
In mid 2015 (I was back in the Reno area), I got a message from Radio Ink management to delete a thread about a "prominent" radio bigwig in Florida who had been accused of some kind of abuse, but the courts found him innocent. I didn't want to do that because of my integrity. If he was innocent, he was in the clear, and any discussion was water-cooler talk. I didn't think it was right to delete the conversation simply because the individual in question was a potential advertiser leaning on Radio Ink management. And because I refused to delete it, they fired me. The solution I arrived at after thinking it through was to hide the thread and, if more allegations surfaced, unhide it. But Ed, the Radio Ink editor at the time, quickly deleted it. That time around, I was there for a little over a year.
They promoted Frank to the managing moderator. Fast forward to 2018 or 2019: Eric reached out and offered to sell RadioDiscussions to me. He said he had made Frank the offer first and was waiting to see if he would accept. If Frank declined, Eric would sell it to me. Frank managed to gather the funds and bought it from Eric.
That is my side of the story that no one has heard until now.
I'm sure some haters will try to pick it apart or ridicule me for some reason. But it is what it is. I've never been dishonest and have always been as fair as I can be. I am a human, though, so I make mistakes also. I hope this helps set part of the record straight with the history of Radio-Info and RadioDiscussions.
