Where do most of the fm's broadcast from?

Hi,
Where do most of the fm's broadcast from?
Like here in LA most of them are at mount wilson.
Where are in the bay area?

San Bruno Mnt, Sutro Tower, Mt. Umannum in the South Bay, San Leandro, and I can't remember the Mt. Peak in Marin County but there are some up there.
KCSM-FM from CSM in San Mateo. Terrain and height is what you need in the BA
because of the topography. Oh and there are Boosters are all over the place.

Wait is it Mt. Beacon in Marin county?

If you are in the Fisherman's Warf area, can I get stuff from San Jose on FM/AM? Is there a lot of interferance in the area from the SF stations?

What is AM reception like?

Depending where you are at the wharf you should be able to get some of the FM's
from SJ. the Wharf is obvously near the water, so some FM in SJ have a straight shot into the city there. SF and SJ stations don't tend to intefere with each other. The cities are only about 50 mile apart. so no one shares Freqs. AM does well in SF, because all the hills screw up FM signals, multipath. There are some soild FM's in sf though. Big Power signals or High Towers. KIOI, KOIT, KISQ, KKSF
KFOG. These are San Bruno Mt or Sutro Tower signals.

The # one station in SF and in the Bay area for 28 years has been KGO. A 50kw
AM located about 40 miles outside SF. It's also # 1 in SJ.

AM interference does happen in downtown SF (Noise Mostly) Overhead Trolly
Lines for busses and streetcars. There a fair ammount of electric vehicles in the
downtown grid...Financial district, shopping areas etc.

These LA FMs are NOT on Wilson:

KROQ
KYSR
KXOL
KRCD
KRCV
KDAY
KSSE
KEBN
KBUE
KBUA
KDLD
KDLE
KWIZ
KALI
KFSH
KJLH
KLIT

That is 16 commerical FMs in the metro not on the mountain... over half of the total. So most of them are NOT in Mt. Wilson.

I didn't really study this list and don't live in the area but it looks to me like some of the stations are on an adjacent mountain with a strong vantage point and the remainder are suburban Class A, which only cover part of the market.

Hi,
David Eduardo. Thank you for correcting me.
I knew that a few did not use Mount Wilson but I did not know that it that many.
Again thank you for correcting me.

what about radio reception in the Santa Cruz area? What could I expect to pick up if I go there?
