Where does Bon Jovi belong in Providence radio?

The great new Bon Jovi/Jennifer Nettles duet Who Says You Can't Go Home brought this to mind. It's country now, but sounds more Mellencamp than Mellencamp does. Hopefully it will cross over at least hot AC if not CHR eventually. I know the ex-Cougar's days of CHR airplay may be over, but Bon Jovi has always had the added attraction of appealing to women.

But what about his old stuff? Where does it really belong.
PRO-FM: Definitely but probably only for 80s/90s request hours
HJY: I think they may still play him but can't imagine why. He's rock & he's loud but I just don't see how he belongs on rock radio. Some might disagree there.
Coast: This is probably where he belongs considering the variety they're playing
Lite: Since listeners complained that they were playing "heavy metal" when they added more Springsteen & Mellencamp I doubt that he'd show up here although the new duet could work if it crosses.

Bon Jovi works on many stations. Pro-FM, WSNE and HJY. Even WBRU. In a couple more years B101 will be playing him... if they arn't already. Lite 105 and Hot 106 won't. I was walking around Ocean State Job lot earlier tonight and they had on Lite 105. I was shocked when I heard Gary DeGraide play a sound effect of a woman almost orgasming as she screamed "YES...YES...YES!!!!!" That was a hell of a change from the Lite 105 I remember. When did they suddenly start getting so Bold? Perhaps the Bon Jovi CD's arn't that far behind afterall. lol

I just don't see any song but Wanted Dead Or Alive on HJY. It has more of a rock radio feel. The others seem to me pure top 40 rock but if he agrees to interviews I think HJY will give his new music some exposure. I've heard he has a constant uphill battle when it comes to convincing stations to play his new songs even though they eventually make it onto the airwaves. I agree on eventually hearing him on B101 if he isn't there already but no way on Lite Rock 105 & WBRU is out of the question. I doubt they even play him on retro hours.

Even the song was dreadful, HJY was the first in the area to add "Have a Nice Day" and still play some Bon Jovi besides Wanted Dead or Alive. But most of the time you hear it on the overnights haha

HJY playing Bon Jovi is like HJY playing Styx even though he came later. I just saw the DVD of Cry Wolf (which sucked) and he played a teacher. Once a rocker puts on glasses and a necktie in a movie it's time for rock radio to stop playing him. I like his music but he ain't exactly GNR and never was.

Bon Jovi is now like the Beatles or Elton John. Meaning HJY may play "The Bitch is back" while the Bee plays "Crocodile Rock" WSNE "Nikita" and Maybe I'm still Standing during an 80's hour on PRO.

I heard "You give love a Bad Name" on HJY the other day Pro still plays it once in a while.
As for the Bee the only song by Bon Jovi I think they could get away with RIGHT NOW is probably "Runaway". But that would be it right now and in light rotation and hopefully not out of "Afternoon Delight" or something sappy.

I have heard his 2000 song "It's My Life" on 96.1 WSRS, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if Lite Rock 105 played it. I don't think it fits on either of those stations at all though. Maybe "Always," but even that's a stretch.

Don`t they play 'LAYLA' (Better) (Older) version by Derek and the Dominos?
What in Gods name is more hard rock than that?

Lite plays the newer solo Eric Clapton version of Layla from the 90s.

I haven't heard the new Bon Jovi song, but saw it on the country chart. I'm assuming WCTK plays it. HJY seems to only play several Bon Jovi songs, mostly from the 80s, and they've played "Have a Nice Day," but I think have dropped it from rotation. I know that HJY claimed they were one of the first stations to break Bon Jovi back in the early 80s.

The big Slippery When Wet hits get played fairly regularly on Boston's Kiss 108, but I'm not sure if/how often PRO-FM plays them. But definitely they'd play some Bon Jovi nuggets during an all-request hour.
