Where does Rick Scott go the day after the primary?

Rick Scott - the day after the primary does all the big national shows and statewide television but where does he go on the Radio? Little WTMY in Sarasota. Sherman Baldwin is really shaking it up in the Sarasota/Bradenton and fringe Tampa Market. This is a real David and Goliath Story. I wonder how Clear Channel feels? Local talk radio rules!!!!! Syndication is the lazy and cheap way out.

Score one for the little folk, indeed. WFLA must be mortified to not have had Scott following his victory, though I wonder if Scott appeared on WFLA prior to the election. Remember, it's not out of the question that he tried to get on WFLA but were booked solid - even too booked for an election winner.

I agree Talk Fanatic. I heard Scott on Baldwin's show too. It is incredible that Scott went to Baldwin to thank his supporters and not the powerhouse stations. Watch Baldwin. I have a good felling about this.

Prior to this (and many other self promotional threads popping up) I had not even heard of WTMY or Sherman Baldwin. But can I offer up a question to those who actually heard this show: was this interview a love-fest with Baldwin lobbing softballs at Scott, congratulating him on the big win, never mentioning HCA, mudslinging ads, ect?? Perhaps this was the one radio station in FL that Scott knew he would get a pass, knowing that WFLA and others may have not been so kind.

No disrespect meant for Mr. Baldwin or WTMY, just askin'. If my cynicism is unfounded, I apologize.

I heard the interview. I respect your question. However, in the 2 other interviews that Scott did with Baldwin - I personally heard Baldwin grill Scott on his past. Yes, the day after interview was a little of a love fest. I think that was appropriate. I have no skin in this game but I would bet Baldwin will get back to critical not feckless interviews with all the candidates as we lead up to November 2nd.

LOCAL TALK RADIO RULES!!!!!!!!

One other thing...Nostalgia - when you say "self promoting threads" are you suggesting that WTMY or Baldwin are self-promoting behind anonymous posts like mine? If so, in my case you would be wrong. I can't speak to anything else but I have no skin in the game other than I was a local talk show host outside Deluth, Minnesota who got canned because Clear Channel came in and replaced me with Rush and Dr. Laura. This was in 1999. I am retired now but consider myself somewhat of a guardian of local talk and I hope stations like WTMY and people like Sherman Baldwin represent a re-birth of local programming and that syndicated programming once again takes a secondary position to local talk. Will it ever happen - unfortunately the answer is no. However, what little resurgence of local programming we see needs to be lauded. When I see small victories - I celebrate them. I hope all of you do as well.

If that was true, one would think you would know how to spell "Duluth."

Talk Fanatic, I dont think I was alone in thinking a little self promotion was going on considering the number of threads on WTMY that popped up all of a sudden. As I said before I had never heard of the station or Mr Baldwin before that. Not that self promotion is bad- just look at a few of the threads titled "shameless self promotion" from Mark Larson! :D

As for the interview, the fact that Rick Scott had appeared on Baldwins show before lends a bit of credibility to the process and was not known to me when I wrote the post.

Trust me, you will not find a stronger supporter of local radio than I. I own a small station in a small town and, short of going life and local 24/7, am doing my best to revive community radio as I remember it back in the 60's when I got my first radio job in a small town. So, congratulations WTMY and Sherman Baldwin, and keep up the good work!
