where does that great punch on on b104 come from

i've thumbed around the dial of all the syracuse stations and all of the cc stations are very well processed but when i land on 104.7 it's like somebody pushed the loudness button 105.1 even though they have a new transmitter and all the other upgrades they are doing sounds rather dull even the frog with all their 100kw sounds pretty good as well but nothing beats the clean bright sound of 104.7 does anybody know what they have in their rack or is it a gerat engineer with a good ear thats why i dont think wolf is going to do any damage to 104's numbers cause even if the ear likes country its going to go where it sounds the best

They use the best Processor (Orban/Optimod). But I dont believe in your theory. Y94 has great processing and great power....but aweful Ratings. The Reverse- WSYR being on Am has aweful fidelity and they have great ratings. The average listener dosent know the difference ....only radio geeks do! As far as 105.1- Time will tell. So far they are making all the right decisions and they sound good.

I was punching around and heard wolf on 98.3. It sounded as good as 104.7. I have to agree with nabru time will tell what wolf will do. They do sound good and I wish them much success. Another player in Syracuse means better radio!

I agree 98.3 sounds great. I bet if you mapped out all WOLF 105's signals on a map. Their coverage is larger than 104.7

Last time I was in Syracuse - last summer - I heard nothing but muddled, over-compressed garbage from ALL of the big players. I hope it's gotten better.

Between 105.1 and 96.7 (and whatever 98.3 brings to the table), no question that WOLF covers a greater area - I can hear 105.1 quite clearly down in Binghamton at my cousin's place up on one of the Vestal hills, for instance.

But in terms of greater signal strength over in-market population, B still has the edge...and that processing doesn't hurt any.

I logged on to orbans site i was impressed with the specs of their optimods do you have any idea what model they are using. im not talking about signal, 105.1's 22kw does fine in syracuse but they need two tranlslaters to reach out 104.7's 50kw's reaches farther but i come from the old katz engineering school at su when you needed a first class to even enter a transmitter room where i was taught that processing tricks the ears to the mood of the music. remember mike joesephs's hot hits format aside from the hyped up jocks, tight intros, liners, jingles and the repititious top five hits. the ce was also required to adjust the optimod to compress and attack, compress and attack so when you flipped on the mic you never touched the pot level. now the average listener was never aware of any of this but mind over matter when they listened it put them in the mood to party and dance, thus the therory of great processing. that was then, this is now so my guess the therory of processing is to give the station the best ballsy clean pumping sound that you can. and from what i can tell 107.9 got it 93q kind of alright even Z89's pumping but b104.7 is set up perfect and the ce for 105.1 need to set up their optimod (what ever their using) to match b104. now thats my opinion, but maybe my opinion sucks
