Where Goes The Pop Top 40?

2 classic rock, 2 Country, and 1 talk radio station round out the current top 5 stations in Indy now? Where's the pop? Thoughts? Why can't this market support a rhythmic/or Pop station in the top 5? We ain't that backwards here.
 
The younger the demo, the less likely to adhere to the Arbitron rules (IMO) & the less likely to listen to FM/AM on a regular or P1 basis. Simple as that.

I doubt the Top 40 stations in PPM markets care a whole lot about 12+ numbers. They mainly only care about 18-34 and teens. If they can dominate those demos they make money.
 
At one time 12-24 used to be the easiest audience to get. Most top 40 stations (and many tv shows) were really trying to get an older audience, because they'd have the young audience by default. Things are reversed now. 12-24 & to some extent 12-34 are less interested in radio (and most tv shows). The heaviest radio and tv consumers tend to be older, and they are an audience neither radio nor tv really care about.
 
Thanks for the feedback. If WHHH could hit the top 5 a few times, it seems like Z could at some point. Don't they have a good portion of 25-44 female? Seems older.
 
The P1 CHR demo are all now listening to Pandora, iPods, Sirius/XM and the like. I predict there will be relatively few pop stations within the next few years as the primary OTA listeners will be older people who don't embrace change very well.
 
It may not be a reluctance to embrace change, but a matter of getting everything they want, free, over the air.
 
WNOU currently ranks 6th and is at its best showing in months.
If you look at the cume, the top 3 are B, ZPL and Now

Lower TSL on the younger contemporary stations. Always been that way. Country listeners stick around longer. Loyal audience.
 
All 3 of those top stations play the big pop hits. B is particularily strong with PPM since there is no true "soft" at-work station in the market and there is no longer a pop oldies station in the market, so they get those audiences by default.
