Where In The World Is Morgan White, Jr.

O

Omnibus

Morgan announced he would be filling in for bradley jay this week.

Another person is now filling in. Not bad. Much better than bradley jay but no Morgan White, Jr.

Dean Johnson was on. He's a pretty good host when he has an interesting guest on, but doesn't do as well IMO when he's on his own and taking calls.

He had a guy on to discuss his book on the Allman Bros., and I found it interesting that he seemed unaware that the band has announced that they're going to stop touring after this year.

Supposedly Morgan is to be on Thu into Fri as my friend Frank Ochieng is to discuss "TV brats" 1-3 am that night. If I hear Morgan won't be on after all I'll pass it along

Been listening to Morgan filling for Bradley Jay and I think, more than ever, WBZ chose the wrong person overnight. Morgan has some quirky topics and I like that in a late-night slot -- but he's equally good at commenting, it seems, on current events. I don't listen all the time so I'm not as knowledgeable on his show, but for the most part, I would think having a well-rounded set of interests or knowledge is key to having a successful talk show. It's something Jay severely lacks -- I have no clue other than music what he's interested in, and he's not very knowledgeable on certain things. In fact even after listening many nights I often think he's just shooting the breeze and biding the time until 5am, often seeming disinterested (and he's terrible with callers).

Morgan can get a little rigid -- especially when he's going into breaks and has to tell the guests and the audience that CBS News is coming up in 15 seconds lol -- but I've grown to like his style. And certainly I think it's a much more entertaining program than anything Jay has to offer, especially the more exposed I am to their shows.
