Where is 760-AM KTKR antenna?
While trying to DX AM stations from the valley for hurricane programming, all I encountered was horrible interference from 760 KTKR on every other frequency from 760 Khz all the way up to 1710 Khz. Its especially strong on 960 Khz. I know that G Hauser calls this phenomenon 'harmonics' when an rf freq doubles or triples from its original freq? I also get the same interference in my vehicle (GM) radio when driving on IH10E passing the VIA bus depot. This rf hash occurs only during the daytime, since 760 drops power at night to almost undetectable levels. I use a RS DX-398. The other radios in my HQ are of chinese manufacture and have poor tuners with little to no signal descrimination, so I can't use those to isolate the problem. My HQ is located off of W Commerce halfway between Gen McMullen and IH10/35 downtown. From the strength of the interference, their antenna might be in my backyard. I have also discovered that those DTV converter boxes, when in the same room as radio, cause even worse interference whether they are ON or on STANDBY, day or night. The only solution is to unplug the power cord from the wall socket. Anyone else come across this problem? Do the purpose built DTVs cause this same problem?
