Where is Bob Schieffer?

Did I miss something?
He's not sick like Jennings is he? It seems like Bob was only on the job for a couple of months, so it couldn't be that he's got vacation time now? And it seems like he's missed allot of important news events, (did he miss the London bombings?), and now the Supreme Court Announcement. Am I the only one who's noticed that it's becomming the CBS Evening News with John Roberts?

Also, has anyone noticed the "Thank you for making us your choice" line he's using that I last remember seeing on CBS 4 in Boston? Do the other CBS owned affiliates use this also?

Hi everyone:

CBS 4 in Denver does. I was watching the close of INXS when they said it during the closing credits. CBS 4 then broke away for a Breaking News story, a hit and run accident involving a construstion worker. This led off their 10:00 PM news.

Incidentally, FOX 31 News @ 9:00 PM was extended for about 10 minutes, ending at 10:10. I'm assuming this is because they simply ran the entire FOX lineup 10 minutes late, leaving analysis up to "Hannity & Colmes" on FNC.

WB 2 either didn't carry the announcement and went straight to WB Network programming (this is most likely the case) or carried the announcement, but then joined the WB Network prime time in progress.

Not sure what KMGH 7 or KUSA 9 did as I never peeked in either one of them, though I suspect they started their 10:00 PM news on time also.

We're LIVE from the Mile High City :)

Cheers for now :)

Yup...so he's still around. Maybe he's just taking some time off. He's not a youthful sprite.

I think he's just on vacation. It's that time of year. John Roberts does an excellent job as his fill in. I'd like to see him get the full time gig.

Me too!
And I'll go even a step further. I like the banter and conversational atmosphere they've created, and I think Roberts is a natural at it. He's a real Tom Brokaw look-like personality. The only trouble I see is, is the perception that he may be liberally biased.

When Dan Rather "retired" as the anchor of CBS Evening News, it was announced that they would be going with rotating anchors for several months, with Bob Schieffer anchoring for a few weeks and then John Roberts for a few weeks until CBS decided in what direction to go with on the Evening News, whether to have just one permanent anchor or several rotating anchors, such as John Roberts, Harry Smith, Bob Schieffer and few others as anchor.
