and don't think for a second your pd isn't checking you out here.

Absolutely!! I know from first hand experience there....

Lol. A lot of managers don't let their employees post on these sites. I just figured that was why you had to remove ZAX from your screen name...a little too close for your PD.

Yep and when I signed on I really didn't give it much thought, but now I am extra careful at what I say and where. It's sometimes best to keep your mouth shut.

Yeah, so I hear. Your PD didn't get his feelings hurt, did he?

Not to my knowledge. He wasn't too happy though. Everythings OK now. BTW, how did you hear about it?

You dropping the ZAX from your screen name? You mentioned it on another thread here in the Eastern North Carolina section. I just figured it was because you were getting heat from higher ups. Most of them can't respond to criticism on this board because they feel it is beneath them and because, in a weird way, it lends credibility to the criticism if they respond. Kind of a "methinks thou doth protest too much..." type syndrome. For them to respond here to criticism rendered here is a little beneath their dignity, so they put out policy that prohibits employees from posting on the internet or requires them to use a totally different screen name.

I gotcha I sort of figured that. And you're right.

Forget these chumps, follow your heart, realize your passion and stand your ground. There will always be room for compelling content and good talent. You are in a unique and special situation enjoy the ride and shoot the silver, but remember, it will eventually come to money and you will need to choose.

Good Luck to you.

Thanks...The trick with radio (like anything in life) is knowing it's only as good as what you say about it. Talk shit about radio and it will continue to be shit to you. Find some good points about radio and talk it up and notice the positives and you will be pleasantly surprised how you feel about radio and how things may change.

Yeah, some PD 's will get pretty pissed because there staff is to busy talking crap about radio and not doing show prep.Understandable....don't you think?

Keeping a positive attitide in today's corporate world can be really tough. When great programming people have to suffer the financial budget cuts because of a weak sales department, its becomes like trying to drive a nail with a rock... I guess thats when the choice of sinking with the ship or jumping off comes in.

It can be a fun challange but like you said, you have to know when to cut your losses and jump from that sinking ship. I just went through that at a station I was at for 13 years. I didn't exactly jump ship...I was more asked to walk the plank...lol / It was a terrible situation
(I tried to make the best of it) but everyone knew they were going to have to end up flipping because of the lack of budget to make it work. The jocks busted their ass and burned themselves out and managment only wanted more from us. It was give, give, give and nothing in return, except broken promises and poor managment.

The funny thing is, walking that plank was the best thing that's ever happened to me. I have a morning show that covers Richmond, I'm a half hour from DC and I'm making better money than I ever have.

Everrything happens for a reason. 8)

I guess I should thank Archway Broadcasting...Thank you! I mean it! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! ;D
