Where is CHICAGO (the No. 1 U.S. 70s group) not on Smooth Jazz more often?

They had many jazz and jazz-like songs, especially some of their better known LP cuts from the first 8 LPs during the 70s.

Why aren't they played more on SJ?

Surely, their horns make this 2nd longest running U.S. rock group (behind the Beach Boys) more SJ than Michael McDonald, Mariah Carey or STing, the latter two of which songs have absolutely no horns or jazz elements whatsoever.

Amazing none of the cowardly PDs didn't TRY to respond to this query.

I was listening to JUST YOU AND ME on my CAR CD today (yep, I'd rather hear that than many radio stations).

I was struck by how many "SMOOTH JAZZ" elements are in that song- soaring flute solos, great keyboards, mushy romantic lyrics...

What else are you guys lookin' for?

Wrong "demos?"

You can have so many demos "up your butt" you get turned upside down and don't know your listeners.

Sorry for such a blunt post but a lot of radio is real screwed up today. Just listen to a so-called "oldies" station that doesn't really know oldies anymore...

I posed this question on a R&R board a few years ago. Most of the replies said that SJ programmers consider them more of a "pop" group. I didn't buy that argument, but that's what I was told.

Wouldn't "Color My World", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is", and "Happy Man" sound great on SJ radio? I think so.

Thanks for the input.
A "pop" group?

Then what do you call HALL AND OATES?

MARIAH CAREY?

STING?

MICHAEL MCDONALD?

I've heard all of these and more on SJ.

Radio PD's these days are so clueless. They just keep bending back and kissing the admen's a--. To the listeners' detriment.
