FilioScotia, my hats off to you for your 42 years. You have my respect. I agree; I've met some really great folks in this business, and a few of them have been become good friends. A lot folks drift in and drift out leaving their mark, some memorable and some not. Most of all, it has been a lot of fun.
One of the biggest thrills for me. was to work with people who were in this business long before me. I learned a lot from these icons, some now gone and a few still here. In addition to guys, like Arch Yancey, Joe Ford, Paul Berlin and others who were there at the beginning of Rock 'n Roll, but also, guys like Bob Stevenson Sr and his son, Bob Jr, both now gone. Bob Sr was in this business way, way back. In the past couple of years, I've worked with Paul Wishnow, the Antique man. Paul helped put KUHT Channel 8 on the air many years ago.
Yesterday, in fact, I completed editing his two hour Christmas show which will air Sunday from 1PM-3PM on KNTH. Normally, it's 'live,' however he is off on a short vacation. The guy has a lot of stories about radio and TV in Houston.
When I was the producer for the Dayna Steele Show on 97 Talk-FM (KKTL 97.1) working for Roger Gray, I met the great Steve Allen, the 1st host of the "Tonight Show" on NBC-TV.
The list is endless and too long for this forum. All in all, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I damn sure didn't have this much fun in 1970 working at UtoteM #115 on Bellaire Blvd right by the train tracks. (Its now Lil Woodrows.)
Never forget the cats who were here before you. They blazed the well traveled radio trail that many of you are traveling upon, today. You are here, because they were there when it started.
Merry Christmas, all.
