Or is it.......Daisy? I should not call him Davey. I should call him "Mr. I failed in Salt Lake City and begged to come back to market #400 where I belong". What is wrong Davey? You had so much to say when you got those fluke fall #s. How come you are not posting anymore? b/c Edworm will not allow it? You and John Oats need to go away. Seriously, let go.

Get your facts straight, sailor-boy. I failed in Boston in 1987, my third year in radio. In Salt Lake, the station's numbers doubled during my year there and returned to their original level after I left. Market size is insignificant. As for Syracuse numbers, are you reading the same results I am?

That is the problem Daisy. You truly believe that you went there, and in 1 year, turned that baby around. And after you left, man, they sure wish Daisy was around to double the stations ratings again. Are you kidding me daze?

It baffles me how right after the release of the winter book, a silence fell over the crowd. Why do you suppose that is Daisy?

Our Winter '06 book, while down, was still UP from the previous year because the prior three ratings periods had been so strong. Do you think every station does nothing but go UP every single ratings period? Statistically impossible, [EDIT]. Every station reaches a critical mass and ours is the highest it's ever been and still growing. I believe Ed will gladly take top 2 or 3 in the adult demo. And thanks for these posts. It's great material for the show...self-deprecation works wonders on the air.

[EDIT-namecalling]

Daisy,

First, I am offended that your post had to be edited for "name calling". b., I really appreciate your honesty. I only wish the rest of your crue would have the guts. You do, they do not. Unfortunately, beancounter, Pedro Martninez, pope in your pants, Mr. French, and "skinny boy" do not. When you come to think of it, who wants to be honest about f-a-i-l-u-r-e.....2 stations, 1 share...The One.

He worked in Boston in 1987??? Doing what???? My understanding was that he was a side kick in Rochester, that was hired by WQBK-FM, Albany in 1988, to host a morning show. Management at the time was rather SURPRISED to learn that he hadn't been running his own board before, which caused alot of problems for various staff members of WQBK, at that time...He lasted at WQBK for almost exactly two years....

To answer your questions and clear up your statements...my job in Boston (morning personality) was the same one I've had since I started in radio as Brother Wease's sidekick in 1984. I was Dean James' morning show partner in Boston until the whole staff was blown out and the station flipped formats, Country being about as popular in Beantown as a Yankees fan. I worked @ WQBK/Albany for two years until I quit to take a better opportunity at an underperforming heritage rock station with a bigger stick in a smaller market--the beloved 95X here in Syracuse. As for running a board, many top personalities merely sit in front of a 360 or Instant Replay or just breathe Budweiser fumes in the general vicinity of a microphone. I doubt whether my inability to run a board in 1988 caused any more problems for staff members at WQBK than it would for superiors at your job to try and teach you management techniques or the basics of the Xerox copier. But...I could be wrong.
