Where is Eddie Edwards?

Checked out WNOE on my way home from work this evening
and Eddie Edwards wasn't on the air. Went to wnoe.com when I
got to the house and the 2pm to 7pm listing under DJ's was gone.

What's the deal? Where's Eddie? He is an authentic legend.

Eddie is no longer with the company. He was released yesterday before his show.

No more info available.

gollie.............whos next??
first it was pal al. now eddie edwards?? who ELSE????

is radio in that deep to where they can no longer tread water? they are starting to let go legends. but im to the point where i can no longer listen to radio and enjoy it anyway.............

All good legends move to Mississippi ;) You can find at least one on GOFM 105.9 ;D sorry to hear about Eddie! Guess there will be no more classic country on WNOE now.

Man, I hate to hear that. He was a long-time legend in this market and one of my favorites. But like somebody posted on here a while back, there's only two types of people who try to make a career out of the radio business (or something like that), those have been fired or those who are going to be fired. Eddie's got some good years on him and I hope he comes down on his feet.

First, I wish only the best to all those affected in this tough economic downturn, unfortunately, I'm afraid this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Smashedcd, if you are referring to me I thank you very much, but let's not forget my bud of decades Alan Beebe also PM drive at Magic 93.7/WMJY! We'll all tip a brewski at Cap's Saturday!

Question of the week is, Will Eddie find him another job near the market (since NOLA only has one country station).. Hate to loose another great classic country Dj who knows the material backwards and forewards to a non local (more than say 100 miles of NOLA) station

The answer to Eddie finding another job is no. There are no jobs open to speak of, and there will be fewer as we go along. Eddie could make a living as a stand up comic. He's a very funny guy.

It's as if there were a recipe to take down a good radio station. It began when they busted up The Breakfast Flakes in the morning and now Eddie Edwards is ushered out. Eddie's Classic Country Saturday Night show was more than just a DJ babysittiing a data bank of songs, it was academic entertainment journey of old songs entwined with stories and history. Eddie's years of experiences and interviews of countless Country Music and Pop entertainers, big stars and little stars added texture and depth to his show. It was Country Music Gumbo stired by a man who was actually part of the scene he showcased so well.

Late night callers on Saturday provided the roux of the mix by calling in requests, perhaps by singing a verse or reciting a piece of a song, leaving it to Eddie to figure out. From all corners of the South, a network of listeners would check in with Eddie, all with the love of Classic Country as our common thread. His presence on Saturday's Show was akin to Wolfman Jack's omnipresence on American Graffiti.

Eddie was a genuine gem of the genre.

Kerry, I couldn't agree more.

I moved to Houston (along with lots of others) nearly 3 years ago. Eddie's PM drive was the reason I listened to WNOE. I'm not the biggest country fan but the show was entertaining and full of good information (personality driven radio). Here in Houston, I listen to virtually NO country music station(s). There is only one personality here (Rowdy Yates at KILT-100.3) that is in the same boat as Eddie. He hosts a classic country weekend show but I rarely even listen to that show because it is syndicated by WW1 and is LOADED with commercials.

Eddie was an asset to New Orleans radio. While I realize there is nearly no competition for WNOE, I'm sure there were a other listeners like me who were not the biggest fans of country music but were still listeners.

Best of luck to one of the good guys.

What do you expect? The corporate di*kheads strike again and take away yet more personality and entertainment while giving the listeners crap in return. And they expect people to listen to the force-fed crap.

Patience. They're cutting their own throats. Look at their stocks. And they scratch their heads and say "Woe is us. Why are our stocks down the toilet?"

Duh! You reap what you sow. The collapse is near for all these suicidal gluttons.

Oh, but across the street we still have Bob DelGermo, the Pud creature and Garlid for entertainment and personality (gag me).

Good luck Eddie. Sorry you had to be the latest casualty of these typical sh*thole owners.

Where is Eddie Edwards?
He had the best of entertaining evening saturday night country classic show!
Not only did he take request, but his knowledge surpassed anyone when it came to the past and today's ledgends of country artist. When you tuned into Eddie on saturday nights you welcomed a friend into your home. Where do we go to from here? The people that just like Wholesome entertainment, and not all that crap they call music today ,and what happens to all that great knowledge that we as well as our children enjoyed so much.

Thank You so much Eddie and may God Bless you.

I think everyone should email there comments to the program director at WNOE. What follows is a copy of my email:

**************************************************

I turned on my radio Saturday night to listen to Eddie Edwards and was so very surprised to not hear his familiar voice.

In trying to find out why he wasn't on the air, I learned that he had been let go by your station. What a shame....he, by far, was the reason the majority of your listeners tuned in to "Country Classics - Saturday Night." Without him, you will be "just another radio station" that people will scan over on Saturday night. Without Eddie, I for one would rather listen to my own CDs. I will no longer tune in and I am sure you will see audience start to dwindle.

Eddie Edwards was so much more than just a DJ spinning songs, the background information he provided was as entertaining as music he played.

You have lost an asset to your station.
