No. That's where the weather does seem to be affecting them. It looks like they're pushing as hard as they can, though. Lots of fun, watching a new site go up from ground zero. They're going to have the nicest (and tallest) tower on the hill, when they get done. Assuming no delays with their equipment, I'd bet they'll be running by the end of Summer.

Great news! Rooster Rock is such a strange place for a radio transmitter anyway. I'm looking forward to see if KXXO causes any problem for CHKG
on 101.1, it is possible to hear KGHO, the Vancouver station and KXL in the same city
Rooster Rock is actually a MARVELOUS place! Before CHKG signed on in the late '90s, KXXO could be heard clearly in Vancouver, BC, Seattle AND Portland, OR.
You're kidding! The Tiger and Cougar stations are usually not even clear in the Vancouver area unless you drive up into the highlands. If Rooster Rock has great capabilities like that, I don't see a point to playing around with radio on South Mountain. South Mountain is a very perplexing broadcast site. How do the Seattle signals fair in Bellingham?

Bellingham is in a "bowl". Large hills and mini-mountains effectively block most south FM signals (including KXXO) The Tiger/lower power Cougar signals suffer the worst. The only Seattle FM station that ever came in clearly was 106.9 (when it was 100,000 watts on Gold Mountain in the mid '80s) Now you can't get 106.9 even halfway decently at all in most areas (and CHWF occasionally drifts in, often far more clearly.)
I am no engineer, but I think Gold Mountain is a much better site for electromagnetic transmission compared to South Mountain. Of course, the issue of co channels in close proximity would probably affect how much power output would be allowed. KCPQ does it, and I find the VHF 13 signal much easier to pick up with rabbit ears than any other Seattle television station.
I assume that many people in Bellingham utilize the Vancouver FM's...
Which speaking of Vancouver FMs, I cannot believe KAFE fired up IBOC. With Shore 104.3 so close, that has become a disaster to their coverage area. I cannot even get Shore 104.3 anymore when I was in Marysville and I used to get them all the time - sometimes with KMNT.
When KXXO is on Rooster Rock I can hear them at my place here in Yakima. Not surprised with that coverage. Have heard them down to Portland, north to Stanwood area, and west to the ocean beaches.

I like when KISM fires up their IBOC though.. that darned CKYE would always cause interference on 92.9 before they improved that 50kw Mount Constitution signal!
