WHERE IS IT??

I hate it when stations do this. "American Top 40- The '70s" has been airing every Sunday night from 9pm to midnight. All of a sudden, it's not on, and without any notification that I'm aware of. It first airs at 9am on Sunday morning, but that is not a good time for me to hear it. I am a regular listener. Very disappointing.

I can't believe stations (WMJI in the Cleveland market) are re re-airing 70's AT40. I was never a AT40/Casey Kasem fan growing up in the 70s/80s. Certainly not appointment listening for me then, nor now.

WMJI's weekends were much stronger when they did theme weekends. Too much syndicated programming on now, including Tom Kent. I like TK. Aired his show in Raleigh (where, honestly, it didn't do well). WMJI would be better off spending more time programming theme weekends, and tracking them, than running syndication.

Bring Norm N. Nite back to Sunday evenings, he had a great call in request show and also use to allow listeners of WMJI to talk to their favorite singers from 8 to midnight back in the 90's, he still lives here in C-Town and would be a great Sunday night host once again!!!

Is he the same one who syndicated to WCBS-FM in New York (the original version of the station before they got "Jack"ed in 2005)?

Yes. But before that, Norm was the weekend evening host at WMJI during the early 90s, with his Sunday show structured like an encyclopedia (especially the "Remember When" hour at 7pm). For what is normally a throwaway night, that was damn good radio, executed perfectly.

Norm also spent time at the old WGAR/1220, and was apparently also the first music director for the old WLRO/1380 Lorain (now WDLW) back in the early 70s.

Norm's show on Sirius ends by 6 PM every Saturday and Sunday, he use to do his "Heart of Rock and Roll" show back to New York from the Alan Freed Studios from 8 PM to Midnight for WCBS 101.1 FM, and since he is no longer doing the WCBS show, maybe a shot back on Magic from 8 to Midnight from the Rock Hall live on Saturday's and/or Sunday evenings, he also played a BIG part in going to New York back then to push for the Rock Hall to be built here in Cleveland, and was the only DJ to induct anyone into the Rock Hall when he inducted Alan Freed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the first year, besides being the author of the "Rock On" books and host to PBS Doo-Wop TV specials, he is still a very smart person when it comes to record information of when it came out, what label, who died when, and so on, plus still keeps in contact with a couple hundred singers from the past...

Not that it will do any good but send an email to [email protected].

I stopped listening to WMJI on the weekends since they dropped the all 70's on Sunday and found another station I like that plays all 80's on the weekends.

I've found myself listening to Majic 105.7 less and less with the changes that are being made and there was a time when I never listened to anything else.

A T 40 The 70's still airs Sunday mornings from 9-noon on Magic. At least as of July 4th anyway.

"Captain - it's gone"!, says Sulu, one of the famous lines from Star Trek. If the 9 am show is too early, have you considered using a software program to capture the show? I assume Majic still streams online, even though I no longer listen to them much either. I use an app called Total Recorder myself (under $15 yet I think) , but there's others. As long as you have the stream going, you can set a timer on the app.You can also capture a radio connected to LINE IN on the computer, it will capture anything going thru the sound card. Then listen later. At one time I used to feed a stereo radio into a stereo VCR and set the timer, using the AUX input. I'd imagine you can do similar with a DVD recorder or DVR? But if you like to listen to the show "live" when you're away from your home, that's a different story.

The timer suggestions are good. Thank you. I can't listen live because I work Sunday morning, although I can have it on in another room and stick my head in now-and-then, but that's no good. I would say that these re-runs are really interesting. They give context to the music.

I was looking online for a podcast site for the AT40's, didn't find much there, especially re: 1970's, however I did find this:

This give stations that broadcast the 70's AT40, and times, and some of the stations stream. I don't know if times are all local for the stations or adjusted for Eastern. Looks like Big 106 in Niles may have a Sunday evening stream, and with a good antenna maybe OTA? (But then they still mention Majic's Sunday evening show). Maybe worth a try.

I can get WBBG (Big 106.1) in Niles/Warren/Youngstown and can verify that they play AT40 three times every week: on Saturday & Sunday mornings and again on Tuesday nights.

Kinda off subject but are they a weak signal, or directional or what? I just know that for the life of me I cannot pick up WBBG from where I live in Greenville, PA. I always wondered about that.
