I always used to like WHAS when they were kinda like a Hot AC that mixed in Oldies during the day,, and then at night they had joe Donavons Rock n Roll Revival with all requests from the 50s to the 80s,,, He actualy played all this music from his own collection of 45s and albums,, and sometimes would be scratchu... hehe.... I wonder if he is still in radio at all,, he must be getting quite old right now.

Also,, my absolute fav jock on DJX was Chris Randolph,, I know he was on 98.9 and 102.3 briefly,, but is he still even in radio?? Is he still in Louisville Even?????

It would be awesome if Joe or Chris are reading this right now and can answer for themselves,, but most likely you L-Town peeps are gonna have to help fill me in....

Joe Donavon was the ops manager of KJ1080 during the standards days. I believe he is retired selling duplicate copies of his record collection on eBay.

Christopher Randolph is in Florida. He took that last name as a tribute to Johnny Randolph. Along those lines, I had read or heard through the grapevine that years ago DJX did a retro day where Johnny joined Chris on the air as a pretend father and son airshift. The other highlight was Bailey doing a couple of hours of morning drive. If it did happen, I wonder if a tape exist?

I have a ton of respect for Joe Donovan. He deserved better, and I've always hoped he would show up on another station. WAKY--are you listening?? Saturday or Sunday night oldies show-- hint hint!! Its done on WABC in New York.

I remember back in the early 1990s a day where 1080 was changing formats and they played airchecks of Bill Bailey's last day on 1080-- I think the airchecks were from the WCII days, but this is just from my memory. The host running the airchecks made the comment that Bill told them he would never work for them again, and they commented that old Bill was again working, through the magic of recorded tape and there was nothing he could do about it.

Donavon doing a show on WAKY is a wonderful idea, it's all a matter of details. A close runner up would be Leonard Yates coming out of radio retirement to bring back Kentuckiana Flashback. He retired from his main job as a principal so he may have the time. WAKY would have to purchase a couple of turntables but beyond that the possibilities are endless.

As far as Chris Randolph, I'm surprised Cox hasn't hired him for their country station that is suppose to kick WAMZ's butt.

Does anyone know what chris randolph's real name is? I remember when he did the father son thing well the pretend father son thing lol

Just like ron clay use to do the same thing on wqmf except one small thing his pops was his real pops.

Chris has been gone for a year or so and it was before Q103 was born so he never could have worked there.

They could have contacted him and said, "You want to come back to Louisville?"

I'm surprised you didn't notice that Q103.1 already has an airstaff.

Sorry, but I'm usually 2 clicks up the dial from there. Glad to see Shane Collins on air. I remember him from his DJX days.

Looks like Kris is a former CC person from the west. Here's some info on her: http://krisdaniels.com/

When did they begin? Looks like their blog entries began just after Christmas.

I see where Bailey was mentioned. I worked with him in lex. what a great guy. def. an old school guy that wasn't afraid to say a few things on air. Highest respect for working hard and playing hard. He's a great guy!

On the new WAKY, they still interview him each day in the 6 and 7 am hour, and in the 3 or 4 pm hours. You can listen or email him a question on www.waky1035.com.
