Where is radio heading?

Yeah its funny with Troy and Henry.Troy and Ellerbe owe Henry a debt of gratitude. He taught them alot.Henry should also be proud of what these guys have accomplished. Its like a soap opera neither one of them admit to knowing anything the other does when in fact we all know they keep close tabs on each other. They share too many business and social mutual friends not to know the lastest on each other. Both of these guys will not like me saying this but Troy and Henry are alot alike and very talented in their own way.I like Ellerbe alot as a person... he seems less show and bs to me.Its funny behind each of these guys are people who don't get nearly enough credit for the success of their respective
businesses.Shirley Rhodes is simply great at what she does.Wesley gets the brunt of a lot of crap. Its OK being a punchline sometime but enough is enough.Wesley has done alot for 1250.Clip Brock has come a long way and seems to get better
everyday. He is really turning out to be a great asset for 1250.He is a good guy.Another unsung hero for 1250 is webmaster/engineer Bill Cope.He is simply
one of the most talented people I've ever seen with the web and such.Troy and Ellerbe should thank God for him because as well as myself the technical side of things ain't their forte.Henry is a very talented man who is also very lucky to be surrounded by good people.Patrick is very good at what he does,Trent has come a long way and seems to be a nice young man.He has a tough road to hoe sometimes and handles himself well.Michael Buscemi is fabulous at wearing many hats for Henry.Henry needs to thank God he has Michael. My friend John Creech
deserves alot of credit for being a very loyal,a do anything you ask of him kinda guy.Every station needs a guy willing to step up on a spur of the moment like Creech.Eddie Harrell is a great engineer and alot is asked of him and Eddie is one of my favorite people. He is the real deal.I have told Henry,Troy and Ellerbe on several occasions how much I think Greenville benefits from what they do.Everyday is kind of a soap opera at times with the stations as with all radio stations. Its just a shame that ego and bruised pride sometimes gets in the way.
Just imagine if Henry,Troy and Ellerbe would put all the crap aside, mend fences and join forces again. They would be an unstoppable force. Both sides have great people and the audience would reap the rewards if all sides would kiss and make up.They could do some awesome things. If you put the people and resources to use Greenville would would have one hell of a WPTF like radio station.I'd love to see it but I think the Pope will be the centerfold in Playgirl before this happens.Just my opinion..... again. This is a radio OPINION board and I'm glad we have it...

Dang, Allen. Talking about radio is one thing. Writing a "Dear Abby" column about all the players and characters in a small town situation is something else. For those of us looking in on this conversation from out of state, we are trying to figure out what is ringing your bell.

You list the good guys and list the bad guys, but tell us what the good radio is and what the bad radio is. Give us a clue.

Sorry if I sometimes appear Dear Abbyish as you put it.I just most of the time like to give credit to the individuals I respect.Being from out of state I can see where some of the names you don't rcognize but we are on the Eastern NC board.I have stated my opinions on good and bad radio quite a few times but again I will not be disrespectful to any individual but I was replying to woot who mentioned specific names/initials and specific dial positions and again I just mentioned folks whom I admire.I may not always agree but the last thing I want to do is be mean or belittle anyone or their opinions.I've been reading yours Rodeo and you seem to be very intelligent and you make good points and you are more articulate than I am.Glad to have you here and again I'm sorry if i am hard to follow but I'm just
stating my feelings the best way I know how on the Eastern Carolina board and I look forward to reading more from you...

Thanks for the update, Allen.

If I were going to make a trip through your state, and your part of the state, and I wanted to stop a visit a really good, well run small market station to see how they do it, what station would you recommend? And why?

This question is not limited to Allen. Any one else got an idea to share?

Pirate Radio 1250/930. In Greenville across from the library downtown on Evans Street.

Why? They managed to get today's college students listening to AM radio. 'Nuff said.

I agree with woot but i would go to 1250 and 94.3 as well. With 94.3 you get to see some local cable tv stuff as well as radio. If you do come let me know.I would enjoy talking radio in person.94.3 btw is on Arlington Blvd.I think you'll find both places very interesting. You'll meet some really nice people at both places..
