Where is Scott Ferrell?

hey, folks, does anyone know what happened to Scott Ferrell? Is he even doing radio anymore??

He's doing a sports show on one of the Howard Stern channels.

He's also part of a show on SNY, the New York sports cable TV station.

Good lord... I remember the night he went after UCLA bball criminal...um...I mean coach Jim Harrick.

It was absolute genious/vicious all in one. The next thing you know, WestwoodOne dumps Ferrell. Did I mention WW1 is weak?

I don't know if he's had the last laugh, but he must've chuckled a bit to watch Harrick's career go down the toilet.

Heard him on Sirius a few months ago and he's as nuts as ever.

Ferrell is good and has gotten something of a bad rap over the years.

I believe his parting from Westwood One dealt more with his taking the Atlanta Thrashers PBP job than anything else.

Which is unfair.

Too bad he cant pull a O and A and do a local show for cbs radio stations. I think his show whether you love him or hate him is very entertaining. If radio is going to gain listeners from IPODS and Satellite they need personalities not the same ol blah blah blah.

I remember hearing one of Ferrall's radio show incarnations a few years ago (I wanna say Fox Sports Radio) and he got cranked by a couple of O&A fans in the same show. What's that all about?

Since burning bridges seems to be traditional in radio, especially for Scott, when he went to Sirius to do a trial run he decided to trash the competition (Opie and Anthony on XM), so O&A fans were calling his Sirius trial and Fox Sports shows. It was a rather backstabbing move to make considering they were friends locally at WNEW in New York. I still have the interview he did with Jim Norton in August 2004 in Atlanta, before they went back to XM, and weeks before WMAX in Atlanta flipped to Spanish hits.

I heard Scott say a few times on the air that everyone at WNEW took the fall for what O & A did & he thought that was B.S.

Burning bridges, burning out in a market, or his act just gets tired after a year ... that seems to be his pattern after flaming out in San Francisco.

Or getting fired for saying "The Thrashers are really taking it up the a-- tonight" :p

To me I just do not get Ferrell. I can not listen to him, But that is just me.

I wonder if there is any chance for Ferrall to do a free radio show in the future. I do realize he is on sterns channel on sirius but I just took out some old tapes I made from dxing mvp or fan from buffalo when he did the ferrall on the bench shows and they were hillarious. Makes me wish he had a night time show on free radio.

In lots of ways I agree.

I used to say this about Ferrall- after the first time I heard it, on Monday, I hated it.

The next day, I tuned in just to make sure what I heard was for real.

On Wednesday, I was doing impersonations of him and was hooked.

The beauty of Ferrall is he can say something controversial, and you don't get upset with it because he is Scott Ferrall. He's so irreverant, how can you be upset with him?

Compare this with a guy like Colin Cowherd. Cowherd has the same oversized ego, but what makes him difficult to listen to is you know his edgy statements are basically trumping the ESPN company line.

I would love to hear Ferrall come on overnights on all the 50kw AM sports stations again. Those were great times.

Besides, hockey and hard rock NEED Scott Ferrall!

There is a numbing homogenization in sports radio these days, like all the other formats.
And it's especially true with the ESPN crowd.
The only opinions and "far-out" things they seem to say these days is....well I can't think of one offhand.
I was going to say they sometimes pick an underdog on the betting lines, but then I can't remember a recent example.

This topic sure brings back some memories... I would sure love to hear Scott again doing sports... His One on One Sports days were truely great. Scott... If you read this.. BRING BACK THE BENCH.. Please???

As one other person pointed out, Scott Ferrell is on Sirius XM, and so are Opie and Anthony. Sirius XM is definitely worth the small amount I pay each month, as they have about 35 college football games every Saturday, along with every NFL game broadcast by the local stations and a whole ton of other great channels. I'm very happy with it.
