Where is Taylor?

I'm not a huge fan of Miss Swift, but I find it an interesting "strategy" to let her huge fanbase go through an entire summer without any new singles hitting radio! Seems very odd to me that someone who is/was as on fire as she has been, let her spark fizzle out like that.

What's the deal?

Maybe they thought she was getting oversaturated. Taking some time off will create more excitement when a new song does come out.

She has a new single coming out soon called "Mine".

Thanks, JayF... Shortly after posting, I'd heard a new album was coming out soon and figured a lead-in single would be dropping very soon. But still, almost the entire summer. Other than her Valentine or collab with Boys Like GIrls, what was her last actual single? Fearless? That came out near New Year's, right? Wow... that's a long time!

I get the whole over-saturation thing, but isn't that what top40 radio (be it country/pop/whatever) is all about??

In fact, someone leaked "Mine" last week and the record company immediately moved up its release date. It's out and already #1 on I Tunes downloads. So any concern of oversaturation may be greatly exaggerated. It's a strong song.

And, in an effort to open up a can of worms, if I were a CHR programmer, I would immediately add this to my station and not allow my local country station to get a head start on this one. I really don't care what the record company's time line is. Taylor has crossed over and is no longer just the property of country anymore.

Maybe it will grow on me but "Mine" just seems like an OK song. I had a totally different reaction when I first heard "You Belong with Me", I was in awe of that song from the first spin.

Even if Taylor isn't just the property of Country anymore, CHR will feel no loyalty towards her or any obligation to play her songs in the future. Unlike Country, CHR is song not artist oriented. They just play whatever is hot at the time. It wouldn't surprise me if another act that crossed over, Lady A, never has another CHR hit again.

I hope Not!! Lady A ought to stay as country as they can. They own it and all in a couple years! But we all know formats are not steel reinforced concrete cages.

She made a lame appearance on the Opry last Saturday. Listening on line and as best as I could judge the room response she underwhelmed the audience. On the other hand Dolly wowed them on the next segment so I had a comparison to go by. Taylor is not a very strong vocalist and she has not the charisma of performers like Dolly, Loretta, Reba, or LeAnn Rimes.

Bottom line the less she is on the radio or TV the happier I am.
