Let's see... Using your logic that we must obey all laws, the Civil Rights Movement would never have happened. We'd still have segregation, washrooms for whites only, water fountains for whites only etc etc... I didn't say we obey only the laws we like. There are a couple of traffic lights which have gone up in my area that are, in my opinion, a waste of a traffic light. They have created more of a problem...not less. I don't like it. But when the light is red, do I stop? You betcha. Do you obey ALL laws? I bet you don't. Ever exceeded the speed limit? Ever rolled through a stop sign, not coming to a complete stop? Ever had sex with the light on? I hear in some states, that's illegal! I guess you're Mr. perfect. I hope the next time you're a little over the speed limit, the local law enforcement is there to remind you to obey the law. My point is, when a situation is so f'ed up, as are the FCC laws regarding low power radio, people will and should do what it takes to get that law changed. I look at it as an act of civil disobedience. Did you know there is a translator in the Atlanta area on 93.7, W229AG-FM? It's in Sandy Plains (Marietta area). They run 10 watts at 151 feet. Second-adjacent to WSTR-94.1 Under current FCC rules, no LPFM could even operate on a THIRD adjacent channel! But a translator is ok. Speaking technically, what's the difference? RF is RF! The difference is, the NAB and the big corporate broadcasters control the rules. They don't want these LPFM stations on the air, they fear the competition. I've got news for them. If some 10 watt or 100 watt LPFM station is a threat to their full power, usually 100,000 watt stations...I believe they have bigger problems than the LPFM station. Maybe it's the content? Maybe they are poor managers? So, instead of having a locally owned and operated station on 93.7...a station that could provide local programming, local information, fill some unfilled niche format (as "Riddim-94" is doing) we have yet another religious outlet, satellite fed and owned by someone in Twin Falls Idaho. Yeah, that's a great use of spectrum. "Pirate" operators will increase in numbers, will buy better and higher powered transmitters and will be bolder and bolder until these insane rules are changed. And again I say, more power to them!!!!!!
