Wasn't it supposed to be Weather Plus that was being replaced, not Universal Sports?

Any update on this? I see in the Directv program guide, 4-2 says "New York Nonstop", but they are still broadcasting Weather Plus.

Yup it's on now. Weather Plus is gone.

Last week on NY Nightly News, they had a preview of this new channel. To tell you the truth, it looked like garbage to me, a cross between "Extra", the Today show, E! and a little bit of news thrown in here and there. I was expecting this channel to be a lot more than just soft news/heavy entertainment. But I tried to keep an open mind.

Oh well, they said the channel was going to debut Monday, which it did. But they never told us that NY Nightly News was leaving their main channel to go to this joke of a digital sub. Last night I thought maybe it was a programming error on their part when NY Nightly News never came on and Extra was in its place. I was really hoping it was a mistake, but sensed that it was probably planned. Tonight, it was obvious that it was no error, because they had a crawl at the bottom of the screen saying that NY Nightly News is now on their NY Nonstop channel. They proceeded to list the 4 cable companies this channel is actually on. I cannot imagine why they'd move NY Nightly News to that channel. Why not at least simulcast it on both? According to their crawl, only about 4 cable companies in the Tri-State actually have this subchannel. They never should have removed NY Nightly News to a channel few people actually get. This is a huge mistake if you ask me. So is their format for this so-called 24 hour newschannel. ::)

Uh, how many cable companies ARE there in the Tri-State area? Cablevision and Time Warner cover a huge amount of real estate just by themselves. It would make sense that multiple systems that are owned by the same company would carry the same broadcast channel on the same cable channel.
