WHERE IS WWCR?????

What is going on? ALL frequencies are vacant, last night only a dead carrier on 4840. This morning, the website has today's current date, but no mention of why ALL their transmitters are down.

Ideas? Did Obama & Co. shut 'em down???

(Info via a fellow SWL/Ham).

Bud ???

They were knocked off by the storms. Somehow nearby WTWW has managed to stay on through the "Great Nashville Flood".

Which is amazing, considering how bad Lebanon got hit. WWCR's website had a huge note saying they were off the air due to the storms:

2 MAY 2010-WWCR and sister station WNQM are OFF-AIR due to power outage and flooding. Nashville, Tennessee is recovering from 18 inches of rainfall in 2 days. We appreciate your patience and request your prayers for employees and friends of these stations, many of whom have suffered tremendous personal loss. Further details will be posted here as they become available.

Odd, since I visited the website (www.wwcr.com) this morning and didn't see it...last update was 30 April 2010.

Sorry, I'll look harder next time....I just thought "they" had enough of Alex Jones.... ;)

Not as long as they're getting his bucks. ::)

WWCR antennas are in the flood plain on the shore of the Cumberland River in NW Nashville. The transmitters are up on a bluff well above the flood level all co-located with WNQM (old WMAK) transmitter site. I haven't been there in a long while now but know from past experience that the transmission lines are at great risk and with any water the short-wave wire antennas may not be usable.

Watt, seems like I read on her a year or so ago that all that equipment (and towers) were not in great shape and were not being well maintained. Could be totally wrong, not meaning to dimish an engineers hard work, etc. I wonder if this, if true, will add more time onto the clock before all is up and running.
