Where Rock Lives 92.3 KROCK

On the other board I saw a posting about KROCK, the already tweaking. But I hear no liners with 'Where Rock Lives' or something, still the same liners.

"Over the past few weeks WXRK has slowly been dropping new music and playing Classic Rock from the 70's - 90's...Well today I noticed that they now call themselves "Where Rock Lives" & "NY's Best Rock" (most of you do remember that WNEW used "Where Rock Lives")....They now have a Led Zepplin block @ noon and double plays @ 2pm from "Rock's Best Artists"...They have a new voice guy which is the same guy who WFAN uses and who K-Rock used back when they were classic rock.....So it looks like they have cloned their sister station WYSP (which calls themselves "The Rock You Grew Up With") and is now going after WAXQ head on."

Last week, in a top of the hour ID, K-Rock also invoked another of the late WNEW's slogans in its latter years: "The Rock of New York".

The Rock of New York? I thought that they use this liner a couple of months now, it's nothing new.

I guess that the people who listens to K-Rock and Q-104 are both playing the same like the two HV stations like WPDH and mostly WBPM combined.

Um....you wanna try stating that again? ???

Hopefully this sinks ratings even lower and the station finally goes away. It's more frustrating, as a rock fan, two have two stations that have the potential to play currents but don't (K-Rock, RXP) than not have anything. RXP is the most frustrating but there are already way too many threads on that. K-Rock is horrible and needs to go away. We have too much dinosaur rock on the radio in NYC.

When CBS gave the keys to Chernoff (inexplicably again! Well that's not true, he's PD of the Fan and OM or whatever of the whole CBS cluster so he didn't have anything else to do!!! Freaking penny pinchers!) I knew he was going to drive it right down old man lane. And almost instantly he put Get the Led Out and Two-fer 2pm on the air, along with all the crappy old music. SO, my question is... Is CBS calling these shots, or is Chernoff sitting behind his desk, cranking out all these great ideas by himself?

I heard Harris Allen (I think) on tonight. And he was reading an O&A liner, like we don't know they're there. And he was cracking himself up and I was literally yelling at my radio! Another question... How long before we start hearing all Chernoff's croonies on the air?

It's funny how much I've been tuning in lately, just to get mad at everything they're doing. It's like reading the Post.

In one way it is depressing that RXP won't fix itself - and by now if they haven't learned, they never will. It's been a year already.

But, at the same time it appears that perhaps CBS is waiting for things to shake out with RXP and bring the anemic K-Rock to an end, revive WNEW on 102.7, and simply swap Fresh onto 92 or bring on another format such as CHR.

Regarding any new format at the 92 dial position, I am all for WYNY country - BUT - it has to be purely pop-flavored. Think of all the country crossovers on PLJ, Z, Fresh, and Lite. But only pop-flavored new country. It could work.

K 98.5 in Monmouth County, NJ on the Jersey shore figured it out - that's how they distinguish themselves from the slightly more honky 92.5 XTU in Philly.

I think RXP going nowhere. All these ESPN rumours are not true. If we must believe the words from the Emmis spokesman, last week.

Hey Guys... I have been in the woods of Vermont for awhile. WHAT the Hell!!!! is this New York's #2 Classic Rock station. I'm giving up more on radio...

Yes, and as we all know, corporate spokespersons *always* tell the truth! ::)

How about "92.3 KROCK... Where Rock Survives"?

I'll go with survived... I'm listening to Godsmack, Disturbed, Nonpoint, Mudvayne, Queensryche, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, on my Ipod... have a nice day playing the Doors, Jimi Hendrix a million times over. If I need new music I'll go to q-104.3 they seem to be playing it more then k-rock.

I'm giving him the benefiet of the doubt as yet. All these ESPN rumours to lead there own life.

If they're serious, watch Chernoff bring in Bob Buchmann to steer the reins. Smart money says "the mole" is in house shortly. Watch.

The only problem with the Buchmann theory is it makes too much sense. So, if it seems logical and could help them, CBS won't do it.

it sounds like 92.3 is more "month to month" or even "pay as you go" then where rock "lives"

And Zach Martin, former Q104 jock, was on K-Rock Sunday evening (12/14/08). I think you're on to something.

Found this link for Zach when I "googled" him to check his name for spelling...just FYI:
