The ABC and Susquehanna stations seem possible. The economics of a Jerry Jones owned radio station are questionable.
Jones would have to find a station good enough to reach Cowboys fans with the games. He would then have to pay a price for it that wouldn't break the bank. If he bought a station that is well run and has good billing, he could probably recoup his investment in say 10 years or so. He might recoup it faster with the additional billing due to the Cowboys games.
So that then gives us some guidelines about what station he might be able to buy.
From ABC: KSCS, WBAP and KMKI would seem to be the only stations that really fit the first criteria of reach. The Twister and ESPN are both rim-shots and are weak in the southern part of the listening area. KMKI is kind of a borderline suggestion in this list. It has a nice signal, but is still problematic at night in some areas. The question then becomes, how much would Jerry have to pay for either KSCS or WBAP? Upwards of 100 million for either is probably a conservative guess. Is that too much for this kind of deal? Who knows.
From Susquehanna: KPLX and KLIF can reach the Cowboys audience just fine. The Ticket just has too many nighttime signal problems even when they were doing the triple-cast on 1700 and 104.1. KPLX has great billing despite it's ups and downs. KLIF has been somewhat of a stabilized mess the past few years and has gotten away from sports. I think Jones could afford KLIF, but I'm not sure he'd want it. I think KPLX would be the same kind of price as either KSCS or WBAP - and that might just make it too rich for Jones' blood. Who knows.
