Where to find archive listings?

I was wondering if there was a website where they listed old program listings for TV stations in the US? I used to keep a log 20 years ago probably sounds silly I used to enjoyed doing it. I did my local Fox station in Providence, RI Fox 64 WNAC. Or could you contact a station and request for what shows they used to air years ago? They must of kept log over the years.

Thank you,
Chris

Many newspapers which have been around for ages have archived almost every page of every edition online. To many you have to subscribe----any freebies are rare.

In my case, here in south Florida, the Palm Beach Post has archived many (but not all) editions of the defunct Miami News, which ended in 1988. I used to have to go to the library to check out microfilms of the Miami Herald for listings, but now I can do this at the comfort of my PC. Oh---Unfortunately, there is no print feature.

I would like to do one day's listings, like many do here on r-i, but it takes a lot of time and patience---something of which I don't have much! Maybe in a few weeks....

I love to not only look at the old listings, but also old logos, promos, etc.

Anyway, check out your closest local "established" newspaper online...

Where I live (Canton, Ohio) I have Library Cards to both Summit County (Akron) and Cleveland Public Library.. Summit County has Free access to Newspaper Archive.com..A pretty good resource, though mostly smaller town newspapers..You can print, though not always real good quality..

In Cleveland they have the Cleveland Plain Dealer Archive mostly complete from 1845-1991..Nearly every page, including photos and ads..They also have past 1991 but articles only..The earlier archive I can access from home and can print easily. The one real requirement is that you be an Ohio resident (For Both Cleveland and Summit County)

Depending on how far back you want to go, I would also recommend NewspaperArchive.com - it has an extensive list of newspapers, albeit, only smaller towns and, due to copyright concerns, very few newspapers from 1990 to the present. It's best if you can get access through a library; I found it a great resource for some research I was doing a few years ago, but a subscription to the site is pricey - I paid $100/year and I think it's up to $120 now.

Google's newspaper archives are quite useful. Our own Bluenoser has used it to post listings for various countries outside North America.

I've looked at the Google News Archive myself, but they typically don't have any of the really big newspapers. However, one newspaper they have on there is the Reading Eagle, from Pennsylvania. They have almost every edition in the time period of 100 years, and it has some good TV listings from Philadelphia, with some stations from Scranton and Harrisburg.
