WHERE'D THE "B" GO IN 95.5?

I just noticed a few days ago that 95.5 WUTQ doesn't use "B"95.5 anymore. They seem to be emphasizing the calls, and just using 95.5 I'm wondering if that was a scheduled change, or did WYJB (B-95.5) scream infringement ???

Don't know the exact reason, but they announced the reimaging in late April.

Interestingly, the "old" B95.5 logo is still very prominently displayed on the station website, but a newer "95.5FM WUTQ" logo, minus the B, with different colors and fonts, appears as part of a smaller image a little ways down the page, on the left.

I think the "B" part of the name stood for "Beautiful Music," which is what the station still airs during the non-talk hours, but since there's been more emphasis on the talk and news offerings (especially since they picked up WIBX's discarded CBS News affiliation), dropping the "B" makes sense.

I would be surprised if WYJB ever had a problem, as Roser's 95.5FM is just a translator. Regarding the two AM stations (WUTQ and WADR), radio-locator.com shows very little overlap between WYJB and Roser's two AM stations (WUTQ and WADR). It's "distant" or "fringe" strength from all three stations... mostly over Fulton County, which is a gray "no mans land" as far as Arbitron is concerned. Besides, WADR is daytime-only and the aforementioned overlap involving WUTQ(AM) is also daytime-only, as the station's night pattern is considerably smaller. Besides, if WYJB had issued some kind of "cease and desist" order, the B would already have been removed from the logo on b955fm.com. (And the domain name likely would have changed as well.)

I was in the area over the weekend & made an effort to listen to the tri-cast. All they were programing was "beautiful" music. which I thought sounded pretty good. A good mix. Probably better described as soft rock. Mostly hits from the 70's & 80's. Very few songs that would be described as "standards". The few I heard would have been played on top 40 stations in that era.
I did not hear any news at all - CBS or otherwise. Maybe the software is not capable of airing CBS live or recording it. Too bad. Also, no personality. Just a female voice doing imaging. It was just an I-pod with commercials. I kept thinking how great this would sound with a warm sounding personality, either live or v. t. ed. On Sunday I heard some ethnic programing - a nice little $$ maker to pay the light bills.
I listened on all three stations. 1550 & 95.5 were not strong out outside of the Utica city limits. Pretty much the same coverage area. I guess the advantage of 95.5 over 1550 is just that it is FM. WADR on 1480 was a pretty strong signal thru out the market. Too bad, they pretty much shut down at sundown. 1480 is a regional frequency and they always could have gotten a night signal. It was looked into many years ago but the cost nowdays would never be recovered. I'll bet in not too many years it will just be turned off.
I would like to listen to their weekday programing but I don't think that's going to happen.
