The WABC producer know as "Crash" used to be part of Noam Layden's 5-6 am news show. Lately he hasn't been there (at least not on the air.) Anyone know the story?
Didn't I read something that with their new programing and the switch from years of Rush and Hannity WABC also got a new PD? Perhaps this is the new Cumulus way. Perhaps its a cost cutting move or just a change is direction? Lots of changes at WABC...hard to say what exactly it is. Anyone work there and know the "rest of the story"?
The new PD makes sense. Crash talked very fast -- the opposite of Noam who is very relaxed -- and it wasn't the smoothest sounding interaction. Crash seemed like a smart guy and could be very entertaining but he really needs to learn to slow down. Frankly it always struck me that any PD who was on the ball would have made that observation and either worked with him or taken him off the air. Maybe they have one now.
Is it possible that his "participation" in the show was really never planned? Possible he was just inserting himself because of the early hour? Perhaps that's why It wasn't the smoothest interaction?
Yea...I guess he can probably influence the two bookend shows. The 5 AM News Hour and the 5 PM Drive Home. He can can Crash and move in TV host after TV host as fill in co-hoists for the also TV Pat Kiernan but can he really say anything to Curtis and Kuby? You know he ain't giving IMUS, Savage or Levin pointers!
I like the idea of Pat and Noam book ending the days at WABC. They need to utilize Noam more during the regular day. Younger voices like his sound good on an old man station
