Last football season I know he was doing some TV work.....I know I missed working with him when I was at MAJ and he was let go.
We used to get him on our Friday HS football show too. Great guy. Enjoyed working with him and it was a shame to see him treated like that at the end.
Treated like what? Dave Shannon still has a friendly repoire with the people at Forever Broadcasting and stops by frequently. It stinks that he didn't get the job with The Spikes because he's definitely better at calling baseball than the person they chose.
His whereabouts? Everyone knows Dave likes to go fishing. Find a fishing hole. He's probably there...relaxing.
They shouldn't have dumped him, is all I was saying when I used the phrase "treated like that."
I agree, he should have some type of baseball gig. The Curve, something.
All reliable sources agree it was a money issue, there were no bad exchanges and an offer of a salary cut was turned down.
Poorly handled. Offering a lower salary? Insulting. That's really just telling an employee: "We don't think you're worth what we're paying you, but rather than let you go, we'll just pay you less for the same work".
That's one way of looking at it. How about "we want to keep you on board but we can't continue to pay you what we'd like. Would you be willing to take a small decrease in pay?"
Regardless of how one looks at it, Dave Shannon turned that offer down. And who did NOT appeal to unemployment when they could have? That'd be Forever Broadcasting. As insulting as one may think it is, that's turning down a bona fide job offer and unemployment will deny you your unemployment for that.
I think Dave did an okay job. I still think he was better at baseball. That's HIS niche. Meanwhile, could you-know-who that got the Spikes job leave some crumbs for the rest of his colleagues? Like he needs yet another job. And he's not that great at any of them. Hated at one of them from what I hear.
