Where's former Z-100 jock J.R. Nelson? Please don't move post!

I posted on the "WHERE ARE THEY NOW BOARD" asking where's J.R. Nelson these days. It's been weeks with no info. So I'm trying this board. Please don't move this post.

J.R. came to NYC via Cleveland. He was Scott Shannon's first co-host and did production. Great jock and sweeper guy. Remember his Middle Eastern voice as a 7-11 owner in New Jersey? Store # (I forget the store #) and all the guy would talk about was his Slurpee machine. Funny dude. I miss J.R!

I remember him;
although Ross Brittan was the man in very short order at Z;
when I went up to do the first features on Z(before they went from worst to first) for The Island Ear and the glossy LI NiteLife magazine, it was all about Scott and Ross, Jon Bell and Claire, and the lovely Anita Bonita who arranged it all (I remember Frankie Blue and Michael Ellis arguing about adding a Pointer Sisters record right in front of me, the girls had done an interview with PLJ first instead of Z, and someone wasn't happy about it;ah, the good ole days
I don't recall JR being prsent for the interviews, which were done emsemble,and then individually

Thanks Jimi! I remember the LI NiteLife mag cover story. I had that issue for many years. I lost it. I also remember the NY Post story & photo on page 3 about Zoo Crew after they did their first show. JR was a heavyset guy....Z-100 used to hide him in photos. If you see the first Zoo album...Z-100 had JR in a big jacket to hide his weight.

Jimi: Did you work at Sam Goody in Lake Grove, NY back around 1979? My friend was into PUNK rock and told me that you did side work in a band. Back in 1979, it was a great year for music. You had PUNK, MAINSTREAM ROCK, TOP 40 and DISCO. When I would buy my 45s at Sam Goody or TSS/MUSIC WORLD, the 45 section was always packed. You could buy a 45 for a buck or less. Them good old days!

Sidenote...I purchased a BIC 2 SPEED CASSETTE DECK in '79 for $ 500.00 at Sam Goody. The deck was cool....2 SPEEDS! It worked good for a few years then it broke. Hard to get parts for this BIC deck, so I put it in the trash.

yes,we talked about it elsewhere; Psychotic Frogs; "Death To Disco"; Steve Dahl's great idea which came to him after he read about me in Billboard,Rolling Stone,Variety,the NY Times, and every other publication under the sun and after we appeared on the short lived IMUS PLUS tv show in 78;
I managed Sam Goody by day, (and wrote for the magazines),and led the Psychotic Frogs by night
