Looking for the Jack Armstrong who used to work in Maine radio. Anyone know where he is or how I can contact him? Last I heard, he was in North Carolina.Any information is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks,Gary BeginIdentity ProgrammingJackson, TN

Where did Jack work in Maine? Is this the same "Jackson Armstrong"of WKBW fame?He was most recently at an Oldies station at 93.1 in Greensboro N.C. Also are you the same Gary Begin that I think worked at WLAM 1470?

This is NOT THAT Jack Armstrong...This Jack Armstrong worked at WTVL-FM Waterville and the old Coast 102.5 in Camden (WQSS). I also worked at both stations but never at WLAM. Interviewed there a few times but could never make a deal.If anyone could help me find my friend, I'd be grateful. Thanks,Gary Begin

Re: Where's "Jack Armstrong?"; DEAD

If this is the same fellow, I'm sorry to report that this particular Jack Armstrong is deceased. Jack Armstrong, whose given name was James B. Armstrong, worked at WSBA in York in the early 70s, then WAMS in Wilmington DE where he hired me, then a lot of smaller radio stations. He was once Ops Mgr at WCII/WKJJ in Louisville, probably the most high profile job of his career. When I was being interviewed for a job in Portland ME in 1986, I was stashed away in a hotel doing monitoring...and who do I hear on WHOM-FM but Jack. I couldn't resist...I ended up calling him.

I last spoke with him when he was doing sales in Williamsport PA...he had two grown children who grew up and lived in the York PA area, and he ultimately migrated to WSOX-FM in Sales. One morning in 2003, he didn't get up.

These appear to be two different Jack Armstrongs'.
The second one, the one of WKBW fame and given name is nothing like James B. Armstrong, Very recently died suddenly. Some say it was from a fall.

The other one, it appears, is also gone. But they are not the same guy.

Jack Armstrong, your "leeeeeader," was well-travelled to a lot of big markets before and after WKBW.
He had a substantial tour of duty at WIXY and WKYC in Cleveland, then CHUM in Toronto. After KB he had perhaps his longest run out at KFI in Los Angeles, before it went to its current news/talk format. Finally he signed on with Entercom, where he both originated live radio and voicetracked for a number of stations in the chain from a base in Greensboro, NC. (During his second stint at KB from 2003 to 2006 he fed his show from North Carolina by ISDN, voicetracked at first but often live as time went on.)
