Where is Jay Diamond? He's not on at 706p Eastern today, Saturday 12/17/05. Jay's photo has been removed from the 'RKO web site. When you go to the Moderate Independent web site, the link to Jay which used to show a photo/bio doesn't work:

The Saturday schedule for 'RKO says 7p-11p TBA:

Google search reveals expired WRKO web site info.

From google, cached WRKO web site info:

Jay had a great show and I hope he comes back *SOON!*

Results 1 - 10 of about 444 for "jay diamond" and "wrko". (0.14 seconds)

"WRKO 680 AM The Talk Station. ... Jay Diamond has moved on to other ventures.
We thank him for all of his hard work and wish him all the best. ...

Nothing new. Search engines have incorrect info all the time. This has NOTHING to do with WRKO.

He's been off of WRKO for a few weeks now. He must have quite the appeal that it takes his listeners a while to notice he's gone.

Mentioned on radio-info Boston board on Dec 2. And Boston Radio Watch's
entry for that same day says: "NYC-based Diamond was reportedly not pleased with constant sports pre-emptions(Celtics basketball, New England Revolution soccer and BC Football) and decided to step down from Saturday's 7-11pm program that he was doing via an ISDN line."

Thanks for the info. It is poor management when Entercom puts weekend hosts in time slots with unpredictable and frequent sports programs, i.e. Brian Maloney/KIRO-AM Seattle, Carl Jeffers/KIRO-AM/Seattle, Turi Ryder/KIRO-AM/Seattle, and Jay Diamond WRKO-AM/Boston.

Not to mention that KIRO-AM Seattle placed the legendary Dave Ross in afternoon drive early in 2005, competing against Mariners baseball on rival KOMO-AM (this comment courtesy of Mr. Maloney's equalizer blog).

If you're going to program a host for ONLY ONE day per week, then don't put them on when sports and/or Robert Brinker delayed will take away one third or more of their programs per year. Find another time, even if it's 10pm at night.

Original Boston R-Info Diamond thread:

Boston Radio Watch on Diamond:

http://www.bostonradiowatch.com/

"Liberal/progressive Jay Diamond has ended his year and a half Saturday night stint on Entercom's talker WRKO AM 680. NYC-based Diamond was reportedly not pleased....................."

Not those who are banned and come back with a new name in under 24 hours.

I can't believe Steve West puts up with your garbage, but I now fully understand why Jerry Williams stood silently while you were shown the door.

For the love of radio, you can see EWF list himself as Paul Yovino below, and the topics and opinions are the same.

Who cares. Get a life.
