Usually hear a weak KYND on my daytime dial, here in ETX. Not so, these last few days. Haven't heard it since at least last week. Did the transmitter site flood out again with the heavy rains down there the last few days? First time I've caught it off air since the ministry acquired the license and lit it back up.

Why not E-mail them and ask? They might appreciate hearing the listener who cares.

Lightning/flood damage from a recent storm, as filed with the FCC for an STA

KYND filed an STA extension with the FCC today:

“El Sembrador Ministries has been engaged in making significant repairs to and refurbishment of the licensed KYND transmitter site. It obtained a Special Temporary Authorization on December 20, 2023, file number 0000233451(separately attached hereto).
On April 20, 2024, KYND suffered a catastrophic lightning and flooding issue. There was a direct lightning strike on Tower #2 which damaged the ATU, and destroyed the 220' transmission line that runs back to the transmitter.
KYND returned to the air on Thursday, May 30, 2024 with the facilities authorized in special temporary authorization but with maximum operating power of 5.0 kW. The licensee has on order additional power amplifiers necessary to enable its main transmitter to operate with the full licensed power of 25 kilowatts, but has been informed by the manufacturer that there is a backlog and this order may not be filled for at least another month.
It is to be noted that KYND has a license application pending, file number 0000233396.
We therefore request a special temporary authority that will permit us to operate with power between 5 kW and 25 kW until all repairs have been completed and the above-referenced license application granted
. The public interest, convenience and necessity will be well served by the grant of the requested STA.”
