I have not seen Mark Rosenthal on WGME news in a while, and noticed he is off their website today! Quite a short run for him at Channel 13 if he has indeed left!

Is he still doing weather on WCIB 101.9 on the Cape?

Mark is now at WGME, Channel 13, in Maine.

Uh, Did you even read the original post? The point was is that he IS NOT on WGME channel 13 in Maine anymore.

As per his "short stints," I have heard (but can not confirm) that Mark can be... well, a bit short fused.

Re: Mark is at ...

Mark did fill-in at WPRI a couple of years back, and not at WJAR.

Believe it or not, Mark was fired a few weeks ago from WGME.

Nobody really knows what happened, but the rumor is that he was going out for really long dinners (or whatever) and didn't come back each night til right before the 11pm news... management told him to stop doing that (cause he needs to be there earlier to tape teases and such) but he bascially said "screw you, I'm a Boston talent" and didn't stop doing it... so they fired him. Word is his ego was too big to fit through the door...

Again, I'm not stating any of this is fact, but this is what people at WGME are saying, so there must be at least SOME truth to it.

Considering the fact that current meterologist, Charlie Lopreski, is closer in age to (former weather anchor) Dave Santoro....the "Mark" firing shouldn't come as much of a surprise?

Too bad since Mark's approach was definitely 'more energetic' than some of the other meteorologists in the greater Portland market.

What I've never been able to figure is why "Boston Talents" come to Maine in the first place? If an anchor, sports or weather person is gonna play the "I'm from the 'big city'" trump card...shouldn't he (or she) just stay there???

Sometimes there just aren't any openings in Boston, or they have put themselves in a postion where they've overvalued themselves in the Boston market but then realize that they need to make a living.

I once worked at a small suburban radio station that switched to a talk format. You should have seen the resumes from once well known Boston talents who, after being off the air, were desperate to take any job. At their heights none of these people would have considered radio, or at least anything under 50K watts.
Edited by MCarney on 02/10/06 12:11 AM.
