Where's Mellany?

She chose a heck of a week, the Phillies' greatest week in 28 years to be "on assignment" (or so Peter told us that's where she was). Mr. Carl, educate us, if you're allowed.

If you had listened later in the morning, you would've heard Mellany reporting on Joe Biden's campaign appearance at the University of Delaware. WDEL's been known to do that. One of the morning anchors will solo anchor so the other, usually Mellany, is freed to go out and cover a story. Not good to take the entire anchor shift off, but doubtless Mellany had to get early to Newark to gain Secret Service clearance. And most of the rest of the WDEL staff, it seems, was involved with Phillies coverage.

That's exactly right. Media pre-set of the Biden event was 5am (for a 10:30 event!!). Mellany asked if she should do live shots through the morning, but I'm not a big fan of reporters being live from an event hours before (or after) it starts. "I'm here. There's nothing going on, but there will be...."

On Thursday morning, Mellany was reporting live from the Modell's in Christiana. I believe she did seven or eight live shots through the course of the morning.

I didn't. I couldn't. I have to be at work (let's just say it's a non-office job) by 9 every morning.

Anyway, thanks DX and Chris for explaining. I (for some reason) thought Mel was off doing a taped special report series.
