Where's Steve O?

Saturday afternoon and WKRC is running a new guy on the auto repair show. I listened through several breaks and he did not mention Steve O or if he was filling in for him. Anyone know?

Here's the note posted on Kiesewetter's Blog More info soon, but it looks like He's no longer with the station.

Steve Overbeck Out?

Don't be surprised if WKRC-AM auto expert isn't on the air 4-8 p.m. Saturday. I haven't nailed down all the details, but I hear he was dropped after last week's show. I couldn't reach Overbeck Friday afternoon, and his website still says he's on 4-8 p.m. Saturday on WKRC-AM.

Yesterday's show (4/26) was mind bogglingly dull. Two guys speaking in monotone.

"If you hit a big pothole your wheel could fall off. Better have it checked"

I think one of them was the last guy that tried to replace Steve when he quit to go racing. I remember that guy because he told the listeners that we should be happy with the E-Check system and we should be glad to submit to it. I don't know what he said next 'cause I never tuned in again.

He must be gone. I can't believe it. Not a mention of him any where on WRKC's website.

I emailed Steve; he replied that he and Clear Channel mutually agreed to part ways. He was very tactful about it.

I also emailed a sponsor, Courtesy Chevrolet. They replied that they are no longer supporting the show and they didn't know what happened, either.

Maybe I'm a groupie.

New Steve O (or was it the old show less the sound efx) was an abortion. First, turn mics on. Next, sound efx just coming out of no where. Phone - were all the callers employees calling from the bathroom? Also I think i heard him say. "They let me smoke in the studio" ...Isn't 1160 in the Channel 19 building? Do they allow smoking in their building? Is there a no smoking sign on the front door? Would be a shame if someone dropped a dime on that comment.

Anyway. for it to be half as good as it was... They need to tighten it up before we worry about 'syndication'.....Right Rodger?

Syndication? Is that a joke? Did someone say they were going to syndicate that mess? Steve will be gone from WDJO is 6 months.

This is from the 6/19 Jim Knippenberg column:

Operations manager Rodger Kay, whom he had worked with at WCPO-TV (Channel 9), promised Overbeck billboard promotions this summer and national syndication next year. He also convinced Overbeck to do his "fastest three hours in radio" call-in show on Saturday morning, instead of Saturday afternoon.

Is it true he ripped 55 and ripped on Seg Dennison Saturday during the initial dead air marathon? He ripped on Seg?

From what I know, he's a veteran so that means he has the right to ignore the laws regarding smoking in public buildings in Ohio. He's a veteran so he can just give away prizes on his show without authorization from management of the radio station. From what I know he's a veteran so he can just leave in the middle of a show. From what I know he left after an hour of his last show on KRC. From what I know he said to a producer I know as he got into the elevator, "People need to learn how to treat a veteran."

WOW-- there is alot of hate for a guy that fixes cars and does a radio show on the weekend--- Are you Haters Clear Channel people or did he cut your brake lines

There are hundreds if not thousands of posts in the archive about WDJO. From what I gather from your comment, no one can comment negatively on WDJO programming?

and to answer another post. He bashed 55 and Seg.

55 and Seg go hand in hand! Since Mel Blanc passed I think Seg doe the voice of Porky Pig. Congrats to Steve! Keep on going!
