Where's the "Classic Rock" on 93.7?

I noticed while listening today that KKRW has dropped the classic rock moniker and is now simply going by "93.7 The Arrow". No mention of classic rock whatsoever. Should the active rock speculation commence?

Where's the alternative rock on 94.5? From its non-offensive, chick-friendly morning show, to its paltry 200 song playlist, how is it an alternative station?

But I doubt 93.7 would go active.

You are right on the money about KTBZ. It hasn't been true alternative rock in several years. However, name wise it has been simply "94.5 The Buzz" since the flip in 2000. It was noticeable musically when alternative rock was replaced by such "new rock" artists like Metallica, but the name never changed. KKRW has for the last decade imaged itself as "Classic Rock, 93.7 The Arrow". For the station to abandon the classic rock handle is surprising and to me makes the station suspect for change.

Agreed on The Arrow. I also noticed less "classic" rock. Also, give the buzz another listen...playlist has widened substantially in the past week or so. I had completely stopped listening. It's still far from a good station but has definitely approved.

What the heck are you all smoking? KKRW was I believe No. 1 or No. 2 25-54 in the most recent Houston PPM currency. Why would you mess with a top rated station?

Clear Channel has been cutting back on positioning statements and clutter on a lot of their stations. That is more likely the reason for the lack of mentioning Classic Rock.

Please keep in mind that the PPM doesn't require recall - so you're seeing a lot less "recall" type programming.

It really makes me wonder why anyone would think CC would mess with a top-rated station 25-54.

I can't listen to rock radio anymore. It's just so bad in this town. I can't listen to the Buzz, or Arrow for that matter, anymore. No matter how much they massage the format. It's the brand i'm sick of.

I'm not smoking anything...I am suggesting these stations sound better than they did in the past.

That's exactly why I have Sirius in the car and XM in the office. No need to listen to lame Houston FM anymore! Haven't listened in over 2 years and don't miss it a bit.

I feel your pain.

"KKRW was I believe No. 1 or No. 2 25-54 in the most recent Houston PPM currency." Spoken like a true salesman. This may be the case, but we're not talking about what kind of #'s KKRW/KTBZ are pulling. We're talking about WHAT the stations sound like to a bunch of people that have worked in the industry and know what sounds good and what doesn't. Do the same 200 songs over, and over, and over, and over sound good to us? NOOOOO. Does it sound good to a 19 year old that has a TSL of 9 minutes. Probably. That's why the # are high.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the radio business ripped of the beer business. Make it bland so everyone likes it and drive true beer (radio) drinkers (listeners) to find thier flavor somewhere else.

this is why i listen to my ipod and why i drink Paulaner.

Did some employee sneak one of his personal CDs into the station?
