Where's the Discussion about Chattanooga's lost CHR?

You'd think that would generate SOME sort of discussion here, wouldn't ya?

Thoughts?

Personally, I think it'd make sense for Citadel to take that big ol' country stick of theirs and go for it. Part of what (I think) hindered Clear Channel's effort at CHR/Pop there was the bad signal they were working with. I know I'm keeping MY eyes on this situation. LOVE Chattanooga. ;D

The reason no one has posted on the East Tennessee board about this subject is because it took place in Chattanooga or Knoxville instead of the Tri-Cities. For some unknown reason, anytime someone post anything about Chattanooga and Knoxville radio, those IDIOTS from the Tri-Cities takeover the topic and start posting about some obscure station or radio personality from the Tri-Cities, like the whole East Tennessee section of Radio-info.com is strictly for Tri-Cities radio. Alot of former posters from both Knoxville and Chattanooga no longer post here because they are tired of their subjects being over taken about Tri-Cities radio.

CC sold WNGA Classic Country The Legend (97.3/99.3) to a new group called 3 Daughters Media, out of Virginia. The Classic Country format was doing very well on that station and CC needed somewhere to move it. Kiss FM was underperforming mostly because of signal issues.

Personally I think by moving the Classic Country format to the weaker signal they will limit the damage that The Legend has been doing to the mothership, US101. However it might also give Citadel's country Duke FM a boost because the simulcast of 98.1 and the WNGA signals ends soon, (probably this week) and then I think CC will have some pretty ticked off listeners that can't pick up the Legend anymore.

The next question is what will 3 Daughters put on the signals they purchased here?

WOW! The first post I ever recall seeing about Chattanooga. That brings back memories of Choo Choo town radio legend Luther Massengill on WDEF.

JWK, I too get tired of Tri-Cities crap. My suggestion, split the boards into Tri-Cities, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.

Damn,Gentlemen!!! Grow up. Live and let live. I have lived in both Kingsport and Knoxville and enjoy news and stories about both as well as Chattanooga and Nashville. What A great station WFLI was!!!!The facts are that most of us all radio guys have either worked in most of East Tennessee and have friends who have and enjoy the swapping of information from all markets...Hell even Bulls Gap,Farragut, and Rossville,ga.!!!!

Note to JWK...If there was something INTERESTING in either of those markets..You might find a discussion about
it on here! ::)

I guess you think Jocks in the Tri-Cities aren't WORTHY to post on the same board, but get a clue!

There are some talented radio people in the Tri-Cities, and yes Virginia, they also have some intellect!

It never ceases to amaze me how some radio people think they're royalty, cause they work in a larger
market. Truth is, most are there because they know someone..and certainly not because
they earned it, or have the talent.

Chatty or K-Ville's not exactly New York or LA, so GET OVER YOURSELF, and post a thread or not.

But save the snide comments for the face to face chats with the people you knock.

Alright, enough of the silly bickering and back to the subject.

As far as Chattanooga radio goes; I just saw where the recently sold 97.3/99.3 simulcast debuted their new format. This is the former home of classic country WNGA that Clear Channel sold off. They just debuted yesterday under the new owners as "U 97.3 and 99.3" with a format of 60's and 70's gold. I live in between Knoxville and Chattanooga and haven't gotten down that way to hear it yet, but there is some discussion about it on the Chattanooga radio forum mentioned above if anyone is interested. It sounds like a really tight playlist of 60's and 70's classic hits and AC gold from what I am reading.
