Where's the feed coming from?

The last two nights, I've been listening to John & Jeff on channel 152 as I usually do, but they've been joining the show earlier, running the entire station promo bed from :06:00-:06:15 which they've always covered with spots before. However, XM is actually joining about 5 seconds before the show starts and I can hear promos for a 97.1 FreeFM. Obviously, this is the show's flagship KLSX/LA... I know from talking to the syndicator that (unless something's changed in the last few months) the feeds are separate and that the satellite feed to affiliates covers all local breaks with national inventory. So then why is XM pulling the feed straight from KLSX, and how are they doing this... via the internet??!! Not a very effective way to feed a show, unless I'm missing something.

Channel 152 is "clear channels" channel on XM, as CC owns a percentage of Xm and has a channel for their content, and of course they go cheap and feed it from the actual station.

This is incorrect, 152 is not Clear Channel's channel on XM. KLSX (John and Jeff's flagship) is owned by Infinity, not Clear Channel. I have actually heard KLSX IDs on other John and Jeff stations when the affiliate rejoins early. I think the syndicated feed is a raw (for the most part) KLSX feed. Other syndicated shows (Imus, Howard Stern) are similar. I used to run the board for Imus and during our local breaks, you could hear the WFAN content while monitoring in cue.
