WXFX plus WDXX plus WMXA Auburn are a pretty good black belt combo of stations in my opinion. I don't think the general public necessarily equates prestige with a 100 kW FM signal like we do. The I-65 corridor is solid thanks to strong WJOX and WHPH in Clanton.
That said, the Alabama network does seem to be pretty weak in some areas. For example, in Tuscaloosa, they're on WTSK 790 and WFFN 95.3. That FM is basically a rimshot (albeit a pretty good one these days) in UA's own town. I'm not sure a portable in the stadium could even pick it up clearly. And WTSK is almost non-existent at night with just 36 watts. Here in Darwin's Waiting Room, Mobile has to make do with WZEW, which leaves out some of Baldwin County unless you've got a super radio. Head to Pensacola and you're pretty much out of luck unless Ft. Walton's Ticket is blowing in.
The network's biggest station after JOX is probably 98.5 in Tupelo, which has a monster signal. But beyond that, it shrinks considerably (WDXX or WFXX Georgiana are probably the next biggest, power-wise.) And on a silly note, they show an AM/FM combo in Tallahassee, but it's WACQ. That's Tallassee. :![]()

I just looked at the map to confirm and it looks like a strong city grade signal for Tuscaloosa. Has something changed?
