I'm kinda surprised at the lack of any news coverage of WBYN's flip. Is there a press release? Did the Reading Eagle even mention it? Is there any press release on the web about this? And now Frank FM's website is down and "under construction."

This all is making me more and more say somethin's fishy with this flip. :)
______________

Strangely, I haven't heard Stairway To Heaven at all. But Queens 'Fat Bottom Girls' just played yet again. So I guess 'Start Me Up' by the Stones should be coming along shortly. Right now it's "How Long" by Ace (one of the few enjoyable songs I've heard). And that's a good question. How long can this be goin' on?

I read the press release and a couple of things caught my attention...

1) Rick Musselman stated right in the press release that the old Christian format on 107.5 was "popular". What about Frank? Going through the posts on this list since Wednesday, I saw absolutely nothing from anyone truly excited about Frank, 2 posts that considered Frank tolerable, and a ton of posts from people who have already turned off Frank and predicted its failure. In fact, I saw more posts from folks who would rather have the old WBYN (even if they were occasional listeners to P&W or Money Matters) than the new Frank, and I know this list isn't the "religious right". So why drop a so-called popular format for one that will likely fail?

2) Lou Mercatanti stated that "Nassau will not only continue this programming, but has actually extended its reach by airing the format on two of its stations, WBYN-AM in Allentown and WCHR-AM in Flemington, NJ." Is the coverage map really expanded by replacing the big 107.5 blowtorch with 2 weaker AM stations? Yes, some of New Jersey may have been picked up with the tweaked WCHR, but the folks in western Berks, northern Lancaster, Chester, and Montgomery counties are out of luck. And then there is the total loss of the nighttime signal for everybody unless you live within a stone's throw of the AM transmitters. So the reach hasn't been expanded as Lou claims, but actually has been diminished by a significant amount.

IMHO, the press release was just a bunch of hot air coming out of corporate. We know mussels reads this board from his few posts/teasers. Why doesn't he have the guts to stand up and explain to all of us the real reasoning behind the changes? They must be shaking in their boots being that they don't return the phone calls to Mike Shannon:)

I haven't heard it yet, either, but I did hear the Doobie Brothers' "Jesus is Just Alright" near the top of the 11PM hour the night of the flip.

I can only imagine the horror of someone in Souderton tuning in after a long day at the Hatfield packing plant. :)
______________

I've only heard Led Zep's "Stairway" one time - on Dick Bartley's "Solid Gold Sat. Night" 20 years ago as part of an all-time countdown show.

Neil Sedaka's "Stairway" I've heard quite a few times in the last 30+ years. :)
