Where's WYSL

I find it extremely hard to believe that more Rochesterians listen to WBTA and WDNY than WYSL. What's up with this?

Of course WYSL has an audience; a much larger one than some of the Rochester stations I'm sure.

The problem is that they don't subscribe to Arbitron. So, for example, even if someone had a diary and they put down WYSL as the station they listen to, Arbitron should record it, but they don't. There is also another theory why 1040-AM is being ignored, but I will let someone else present that argument.

It will be interesting to see what excuse Arbitron gives for excluding WYSL after that station increases its daytime power from 2kw to 25 kw, which should be by the end of summer, if all works out as planned.

Mark,

This statement is absolutely false. The fact that WYSL does not subscribe has no bearing on ratings that are acredited by the Electronic Media Ratings Council (EMRC). (Arbitron is)

This is a silly old wives tale about ratings.

They do show up in the ratings, but with really low numbers. (ask anyone with maximiser to show you)

Maybe no one listens, or maybe arb is flawed, but its not for the reason you outlined.

I thought you were smarter than this.

Right on WBSU

It's the same silly wives tale that many I've met over the years who work in Public Radio have proferred as to why they don't score high in the ratings.
WHAM and other stations in that cluster stopped subcribing to Arbitron several years ago (don't know if that's still the case) ,..but they didn't suddenly dissapear from the ratings.

Re: Mark Statement is wrong

What the heck are you talking about? I've never heard ANYONE in public radio say that. So, Mark made a mistake. But the personal shot that WBSU1 took at him was uncalled for. I've always found WBSU1 to be an obnoxious poster. He hides behind his Internet name and takes shots at people. At least Mark has the guts to post under his real name. Get your facts right, Mr. K., before you start making generalizations!

It's just like saying FDR was elected President 4 times. Just because you don't recall him being President (I trust) doesn't change that fact.

**Oh, and is that YOUR real name?
