WHHS and their Twitter Page

Going to High School at Haverford High School after all these many years back, I kind of wondered if WHHS was still around. The web site is very sparse and it doesn't really indicate that there still is a station there. So to peak my curiosity I ran across the station's twitter page and long and behold there was people tweeting and talking about what they do on and off the air. The debacle over the station's frequency a while back didn't affect things at all and they have been going forward. I live in Mississippi now and did not go on to get a career in the Broadcast field. But if I go back to the Philadelphia area I would like to visit and see how everything changed. My role was an Engineer from 1968-1971.

Hi Richard. I'm not from the Philly area, but WHHS's long and storied history is outstanding and well known around the country! They are now on 99.9 MHz under a special authorization (exemption) with the FCC and with the cooperation of various Philadelphia broadcasters. It is well known to be THE oldest high school station in the country. Be assured that your "baby" is doing quite well and still playing the tunes and then some. Check out the Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WHHS and you'll see what WHHS is doing now. I've always been a BIG supporter of the 10 watt (Class D) stations. They are the true local public servant of the broadcasting community. I'm very proud to be operating one of them myself. Hope you have a chance to visit the station on your next visit to Philly! All the best! :)
