What is your favorite choice for Nightly News?

For me it's a mix between NBC Nightly News and ABC World News. What yours?

I always watched Bob Schefer on CBS untill they canned him and got that woman...now if I watch the news I change between ABC & NBC (watch ABC longer when they have the limited commecials...I still dont watch the commercials though). I never even consider CBS...never cared for Couric (sp)

CBS and ABC. CBS has by far the best reporters, although they just lost some good ones like Lee Cowan and Mark Potter to NBC. They still have the great Steve Hartman, Russ Mitchell, Jim Stewart, Anthony Mason (who was a great fill-in anchor 2 months ago), David Martin, Byron Pitts & Jim Axelrod. My favorite is Mark Knoller, but he's mostly CBS Radio. The anchorperson is a minor element to me, but ABC wins that one...Its more the writing and the stories that sells me. I just haven't seen that much on NBC.

"Apparently the reason CBS canned him was because people started watching."--David Letterman.

My mother never liked Couric because of her voice and attitude.

I started watching NBC (which I still do occasionally) and then PBS after they canned Dan Rather. He was my favorite. Maybe they can move the news to Washington so Schieffer doesn't have to take the train over and over again?

None of the above--I only get my news off either local newscasts or off the internet. If I do watch a national news program, I admit it's usually Couric(I work at a CBS station). Yes it may sound crazy to some of you and she'll never be as great as Schieffer was, but hey, Couric bashing is overrated these days and she's better than Rather in my opinion.

Me?

Usually Newshour (Jim Lehrer), Nightly Business Report and Newshour on the BBC, if I have my dish swung over in the right direction. If I want local stuff, seems lately I have favoured the 5 & 6:30 broadcasts on KGW.

Wait--that's 4............

I won't even bother with Katie Curick, so forget CBS!

...there is no more Nightly News on the networks. That crap that Gibson, Williams and Couric dish out doesn't even qualify to be "Entertainment Tonight" level junk...

Continue on, folks.
