V103 gets the most media attention by far. Since they have been declared the southern flagship of the hip-hop community, they get a lot of attention in the national press (but not as much as WQHT and WWPR in New York). Local media attention comes because the DJ's do so much good for the community. A few years ago, Hot 107.9 was getting a lot of attention, and not for good reasons (transmitter RF issues, club violence, etc.).
Q100 and Star 94 get a lot of attention as well. Kicks 101.5 gets attention on occasion. The Zone and the Fan get frequent attention when it comes to local sports issues (the hosts on the Zone are called on as analyists for all four local TV news stations, but only WGCL I believe pays one for the "Sportsline Saturday" show). WDUN Gainesville gets frequent attention due to Martha Zoller, and WSB-AM gets theirs from Neil Boortz and Clark Howard (although much of it is confined to WSB-TV, the AJC, and CNN). Eagle 106.7 got attention before the flip to True Oldies. 99X also got frequent attention prior to its demise.
The Cox FM stations are among those that get the least (unless they buy commercial time), but Steve and Vikki will give B98.5 instant attention when they come on board. WJZZ and the Clear Channel stations also get very little (although the Kimmer gave WGST some attention). Nobody talks about WABE at all, and forget anyone talking about the Salem stations.
Generally...except for V103...the top rated stations get the least media attention, and the bottom rated ones get the most.
