Which Border Blaster Is For Lease?

This week's RadioTV Dealmaker email lists a "Southern California/Mexico AM 'Border Blaster' Day & Night."

Sounds like a TJ AM is looking for a new programmer.

PSN has no shortage of stations to get people to program...but that is indeed curious.

Worth noting *any* time PSN (Jaime Bonilla) is mentioned: his gubernatorial term ends this year (it was a short one-off two-year term to comply with a federal constitutional reform).

77,000 watts. That's it.

I'm still hearing Chinese programming on AM 690. Did those operators lose their lease? Or, choose not to renew?

When the Chinese programming started, an article said it was run by a group targeting the large Asian community in the San Gabriel Valley. Always thought that was a stretch, considering the SGV is probably 130 miles from the transmitter site.

Once KSPN 710 begins diplexing off 1110 in Santa Anita that will be it for 690 in the SGV. We get only around 1mV from 690 here in the west San Fernando Valley but with both 710 (50kw) and 670 (5kw) less than 10 miles from us makes listening difficult particularly in a radio with decent bandwidth for at least some fidelity.
