Which do you like better kbig or my 104.3?

I like my 104.3 but kbig was interesting and i miss thump radio but it never made sense to have that show on with there format.

Kbig was a much more interesting station to listen to but with 104.3 they do play one of my favorite cure songs inbetween days which i have not heard on a hot ac till now. But my only crtitcism would be to have better presentation better jocks. Not all but some seem like they belong on a light rock station but just my opinion.

Waht do you all think? And one more thing does my 104.3 bill better then kbig did? Or the same.

I thought star 98.7 overall better. They had some good jocks. The british dude the guy from vegas just better overall.

As an outsider, it looks to me that LA doesn't have a Hot AC. My FM seems to be AC, albeit a younger skewing one but using a decidedly AC approach. The ratings also list it as AC.

It's a matter of opinion. CC believes that MyFm is a Hot AC, but their current programming approach seems to be a mish-mash. A formula, a recipe with a little of this and a little of that, sort of the way Top 40 used to be, all over the road. But it's a pretty cold sounding station in many ways. For some reason it's just sounds sort of distant to me. The old KBIG 104 was fine tuned by Jhani Kaye, but when he left for KRTH they lost their way at KBIG and the company's vision for KBIG became the format de jour. Call it "My-something" and of course, stripping away most of the personality. The same guy programming KBIG now is the same guy who damn near ruined the sound of sister station KOST with poor jingles and a cluttered, very white sound. Damn near killed that station last year until someone came to their senses and made changes to counter the stupidity. MyFM's rating seem to jump up and down, probably because their isn't a lot of consistency. Too many changes all the time, but ratings wise they have done better as MyFM for the most part. Yes, MyFM is a part of the AC spectrum, but it's not a true traditional AC like KOST. It lacks the standard benchmarks of the traditional AC and sounds more like a CHR or Hot AC in it's imaging. Personally I like the old KBIG better as the new MyFM is too wishy-washy and a little overdone presentation-wise.

I really dont care for the new MYFM. Very boring and too bland. It's like there is no life into the station. KBIG 104 always had something good to play or a wow song every now and then. It was still targeted towards women but it also attracted alot of gay/lesbian listeners as well. To some it was like WKTU in New York just not without the rap. I think one of the reasons why KBIG never evolved into that format because it might interfer with KIIS. Not to mention someone posted in another topic music taste is different here vs. New York. How many times can you play freestyle music during the week. But KBIG was way better. I loved the Top of the hour jingles It's 9 oclock on the west. Disco Saturday Night wasa favorite too

Arbitron's SIP shows KBIG as "Hot AC."

If you refer to the format descriptions or names websites or trade publications use, those often come from the publication itself, not the station or Arbitron.

When they lauched MYFM CC describe it as Contempary Adult Hits which made it seem like Jack FM but it would have made sense just to call it Hot AC since we didnt have one full time. KYSR is Modern AC during that time.

KBIG definitely! Charlie Tuna was awesome! Still remember when it was LeAnn and Charlie... that was awesome! It's a shame that KBIG switched their format... not a fan of MYFM. I miss the old KBIG 104.

In 2000 until the middle part of the last decade KBIG really had one of the best top of the hour jingles, "It's 5 o'clock in the West!"

One of the issues with KBIG over the years, going back to the late 1980s, it seemed every couple years they were changing up their format in some way or another, becoming more times than not "the new KBIG 104."

I remember in the early 2000s for a while they were playing 60s Motown hits amid their Hot AC playlist, which was interesting, but odd.

MY plays a majority of the songs on the Hot AC chart, so I think its safe to call it a Hot AC. Sure, they also play some older rhythmic songs, some older Modern AC songs, some older alternative songs- but it sounds appropriate for the market. All of the songs sound like heavily researched market favorites.

My guess is that MyFM has a formula for their format. Probably a percentage game for songs in the library from several different types of music. Something they can lay out on a pie chart. It's a formula of some sort.
