Which Morning Show might not make it past March

Don Barrett on his website had a little teaser about a rumor going around where an insider claims that a Los Angeles morning show will not make it past March.

Anyone care to guess which show it might be. I can only guess that it is KABC with that pathetic Doug McIntyre show or the Frank and Heidi show on KLOS. I think neither show is drawing any listeners.
 
I've been saying for months that the transition from M&B to H&F by KLOS management is a case study in how not to choose a successor morning show and then promote and market it so that there is a minimal reduction in total listeners (and demo). As has been posted elsewhere on the site, H&F have tanked the M&B ratings and rendered the station directionless without the significant morning drive engine that the station clearly needs to power through the day.

But the incompetence on the FM side of the building can only be topped by the management team down the hall on the AM side, because as I and many others have noted, the McIntyre show in the morning is simply painful to listen to, and amazingly frustrating too because Doug obviously has talent that has been used successfully elsewhere in the day and without the micro-management of his show. When you saddle proven talent with too many obstacles, interferences and non-compatible co-hosts, that is inept management at it's best, er, worst.

So you're probably on the money with your guesses. We can only hope.

It's a coin flip for either one really. I'd give the edge to Heidi & Frank getting pink slipped simple because KLOS has had positive ratings in the past.
KABC has been in the ratings cellar for so long that no one takes that station seriously anymore.
Besides, any move at 790 would be noticed by less than 12 people tops.

I tend to agree with you that KABC has deep problems beyond its morning show, so replacing one flat tire will not help when the other three are flat too. Plus as you mention KABC has been ignored for so long that they really do not matter at this point. So I think you are right, F&H may be on their way out.
 
KABC's "Morning Mess" with Doug (who keeps putting down radio and the people in it constantly - to which I say: Resign!). Doug rants and screams, cuts his few guests off. Sounds like in echo chamber, too. Don't you love the old, crummy music intros? Peter Gunn or that one sounding like a party? Believe me, KABC in the morning is no party.

And T-Rae "Always Mumbles and Cackles" Elmer. What a case study in how not to be a "serious newswoman" (as she calls herself) and/or a sidekick to McIntyre (yes, Doug, we know you are Catholic and hate Mahoney! You waste so much airtime on this (which is hard to do given the idiots who still advertise on KABC mornings).

As another poster rightly said: Some people are made for morning radio or can adapt to it. Clear Ranting "Hates Radio" "Lowest form of show biz" -- Doug McIntrye doesn't keep his dislike for his job to himself. Or for KABC. Says it all time.

Ms. Mumbles mumbles. Cackles. Or "eewwww" is becoming one of her normal attempts are proper articulation. No idea what she is doing or her role. Bad fit together.

And please fix the sport's guys mic! Sounds like he is on a bad phone.

All in all, it is a close tie between KLOS and KABC. But KABC wins this vote. I would think management would want people there on the air who want to be there. At KABC's Morning Mess, the "team" does not want to be there on the air. Suggest jobs at IHOP.

End the "Morning Mess" and make it a gift to Los Angeles.
