Which of the Big 3 broke into programming on health plan failure?

This might have varied by time zone, but out west, CBS and ABC broke into programming this afternoon after the Trump health plan was pulled. They also ran Trump's quick presser from the Oval Office. Surprisingly, NBC kept with regular programming, (atleast during the Trump segment).

I can tell you that on the cable side, both CNN and MSNBC ran everything, including the Democratic Response to Paul Ryan. Over on Fox, they ignored the Democrats, and instead interviewed a House Republican on where do we go from here.

Oh My God! I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

Here in Phoenix my indie channel 3 was broken into by Scott Pelley of CBS (normally on channel 5) with the announcement. 3 and 5 are owned by the same folks so I guess it isn't a stretch but I would have expected one of the 3 anchors to do the presenting on their channel.

Tough to keep the players apart without a program these days.

Yes and predictable for Cable News/Talk channels to go wall to wall on the Health care debates. C-Span would have the full edition of all the congressional hearings about Health Care.

I liked that :D shocked reaction!!!!!

While a significant news story, the failure of a health care bill is not
"break into regular programming" stuff. Would never have happened
if ANYONE else had been President.

The media is wearing their feelings about Trump on their sleeves again.

Had it passed, and the networks not broken in, you'd be complaining about media bias too.

This became a major story because the president MADE it a major story. He's turned everything into reality TV.

Right. Whether or not they LIKE Trump, he is good TV. I recall that in the early campaign, CNN would run Trump's speeches uninterrupted for looonnnnggg periods of time. They didn't give any other candidate even close to that amount of air time. Why? I doubt it was because they wanted to see him elected - but it was good TV, and brought in the ratings.

I agree that this didn't justify breaking into regular TV. But then if all that was on was trash talk, courtroom shows, and infomercials I wouldn't have been watching anyway.

His whole ultimatum thing Thursday turned the Friday announcements into Must-See TV. More drama there than on any scripted TV show.

What there's always drama in the Trump Cabinet from staff members being connected to Russia to the confirmation of a judge and yes Trumpcare. The president wants to be the Barnum and Bailey of politics here so he can get lots of attention from cable talk shows.

You see, the media and Trump work hand in hand. They understand each other, and both have a lot to gain by playing off each other. Not exactly a great way to run a government, but this is what it has become.

I agree. This whole "enemy of the people" thing gets great ratings for everyone. Obama was so dull. No one cared about government. Not any more.

But yes, just because it makes great TV doesn't mean we're getting great government. But I'm not in that business, so I don't care.

Bills come up for votes and fail all the time.
Other than CSPAN junkies, nobody ever sees that on TV in real-time.

Yes but the Superpacs and Lobbyists go on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC and do the blame game on these talk shows on why a bill succeeded or fail depending on the political tribe they support.

You're right. If it was just a Ryan newser, it might not have received the coverage. But when the President says he wants to speak, that changes everything.
